      Blown Tranny: Tranny go KABOOM

The first time all the gears went out and I could move the shifter freely. When I opened the hood I noticed a hole in the transmission case that allowed me so see through it. This time I haven't opened the hood since its raining but it doesnt go into any gear and when I was driving I heard what it sounded like pieces of metal hitting the firewall.

I know that in the Starion/Conquests there is a bushing that sits in the crank that must be removed before swapping to a 5 speed. Have you checked to see if there is a bushing or bearing putting stress on the input shaft? Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I don't know much about Integras...

UPDATE: I'm going to get the tranny rebuilt, then I'll decide if I'm selling it or not. If anyone knows a good shop that knows their stuff in new jersey around kearny and belleville areas please let me know.

On another note I'm picking up an 04 chevy trailblazer soon for 3 grand with 105k miles. I'm buying this from my girlfriends brother so I know how he's treated it and I've driven it many times. I'll be using this car to get to work while the cb and the teg rest and get worked on.

Back from the dead. I have the teg at a tranny shop around here and the gears are fine but the drive shaft and differential are blown (there goes the lsd).

They told me this could have been caused by a messed up axle witch I guess explains why the gsr tranny blew as well.

I'm ordering hasport axles $350 the pair, and I found another b16 tranny so hopefully this time it will give me no problems.

Any input that might help will be greatly appreciated.

Got the car today with the new B16 trans and the hasport axles.

I must say I'm pretty disappointed on the low end power but the mid and top feel pretty good.

I feel that the lsd was much quicker off the line its a shame its gone.

I know what you mean. I could never go with a non lsd tranny again. Shit really sucks.

When we first put in the lsd I remember thinking like "hey this feels pretty good".

Now starting from 0mph it feels like "huh" and then "ok theres the power".

My Cousin took me off the line in his ek with a ls engine I caught up second gear. We're going to go ls vtec soon just to kick up a few more horses.

Dont use the stock axles, its no wonder your having problems.
The GSR tranny has different axles then any of the other integra's. And if you swap motors, you need to get the proper axles, those integra's come stock with a B16-a right? You should be using the axles that either came with the motor, or getting the proper set. It sounds like there was too much pressure on the axle, and it slid right into the tranny.

Could be the mounts putting the tranny/axles at a bad angle, prematurely fubaring the trannys

                        Or just incredibly bad luck.

Integra trannys/engines are so unnecessarily expensive, even for the base ones. Makes me

me and my friend built his LS, and swapped it over from auto to 5 speed, and after we dropped it in i was looking at it and was like wow that looks crooked to me for some reason, and if you convert it to a 5 speed i guess theres a mount thats different that makes the motor lean to the left (driver side)

i wonder if that has anything to do with yours?

No my tranny was low on gear oil, hence the stuck axle and intermittent 1-2 gear lock out

But as far as the OP, that would probably do it. I am sure they sell auto-manual mount kits for teggys
