    Del Sol Question(s)

    I know, i know...hate away....

For those of you who like them, I have a question, or two.

    1. The 93-95 "Civic Del Sol" had the front aux lights. After thatm they eliminated both the "Civic" and the aux lights. Ive only seen 1 or 2 without the lights, the others all had them. My question is;

    Which do you prefer?

    2. I know the beefiest these things came(from the factory) was a b16. Either a2 or a3. Both putting out about 160hp.

What kind of swaps can be done to improve on this?
And what kind of swaps, if any, have you seen that you liked?

I know they run off the early civic chassis, but ppl just dont seem to take to the del sol like they do the civic. I mean, ive seen my share of sick del sol's, but no where in comparison to civics.

Now i know the numbers were limited(to about 75,00 i think) so that probably attributes to their rarity, but if you, or anyone, had the choise of either the del sol or the civic, why did everyone go Civic?

Preferences and tastes, i guess. I like the targa top idea. Plus the Japanese "Auto" version was pretty cool too.

Also, i dont know if anyone else knew this, or if this was true with any other Honda(plus i may be living in the dark), but the Del Sol VTEC did NOT come in AT. It just wasnt an option.

i've seen an h22 in them, and GSR's.

i think the reason they never took off quite as much as civics is because they are too heavy because they weigh a lot more, they need more reinforcement in the roof for the targa top, but i could be wrong.

        Yeah.

I saw some nice pics of one at that last meet. Wasnt diggin the red rims, but

And mike, just in case you wanted to know, i'll give ya the basic rundown:

(this is USDM of course )
        "EG1/EG2/EH6". Ran from 1993-1997.

        93-95:
        "S" - 102hp D15B7 (EG1)
        "Si" - 125hp D16Z6 (EH6)

        94-95:
        "VTEC" - 160hp B16A3 (EG2)

        96-97:
        "S" - 106hp D16Y7 (EG1)
        "VTEC" - 160hp B16A2 (EG2)

As mentioned, 93/94 saw it as the "Civic Del Sol". honda dropped the "Civic" in 95. Also, the earlier models had the aux lights. Honda eliminated them in 96. And the VTEC models were not available in an Automatic Transmission.

Ive got an engine swap manual around somewhere and it went into some quick detail abtou the del sol, but not much. I look more into that. I imagine any swap that can be done into a civic, can be done to this.

        Just a cool liitle car.

        Sometimes.
