thats exactly the engine thats in my Nissan Maxima....NOTICE, I said MY ....yes...went and picked it up yesterday instead of this coming Friday.

couple of problems:

1) throwout bearing is making a noise ( when you step on the clutch...its quiet..when you release to clutch it makes a rubbing noise ) but doesn't affect the driveablity of the Maxima!

^ that...I will replace when I replace the clutch/flywheel/rearmain. ( something I always do just to do it...replace things just to replace things )

2) passenger side Axle is bad ( clicking upon turning left or right )



^ I will address those ASAP!

Oh yeah....the back three plugs...getting to those doesn't look too hard...theres gaps between intake mani for each of the plugs....so I think using an extension should do the trick.


the Pros:

1) the previous owner just got the oil changed with Castrol Synthetic blend. Next oil change..( 213K )...Current 211K

2 ) NO VTC tick

3) New tires

3) I LIKE IT!

4) its got POWER!! big step up from the CB.



NOTE: I will take pics whenever I get another camera...( I forgot my camera in the CB when I traded .....the guy claimed he didn't see any camera in the driver door ...where I put it.... RIGHT! ....anyhoo...its a 3 hour drive from where he is and where I live..and im not wasting gas just to go back to shoot him )

NOTE: I will get another CB...( thats a 100% definite )..but Im keeping the max...and eventually...I will end up getting a 95 Max ...( I love these cars )



so..a couple of Max's and another CB ( a clean one from down south..yeah..this time..Im getting one from the southern states ...I hate rust! )

^ speaking of rust...it got some on the rear BOTTOM quarters...as soon as I get my hands on another camera...I will take pics of it.

sweet! i love the old Maxima's. it's too bad their so hard to find in good condition. looks like you found a fairly good one. the rust doesn't look too bad. i have seen worse.

yeah.....and I rate this a 7 out of 10....its in good condition...just needs some things worked out.

and its true...alot of the older Maximas are RAN THE HELL DOWN! ...VTC clacking...rusted out floorboard...etc..etc. but this is in pretty good shape..besides the dings and rust.

Like I said before....I WILL be getting another CB ...im keeping the Max! and I will still get my girl another CB..

so I still have my hands full

* 2 more CBs ( rust free from southern states ) 92-93 ONLY! ( I have had my share of 90-91s )
* 1 VW jetta VR6 ( for my girl ) " she likes them a lot "

I registered on www.maxima.org and I can't find anywhere ... where anyone has swapped a VQ35 DOHC V6 ( newer Max engine ) into a 3rd gen

VQ35 ( 255hp ) I want that badboy swapped into my 3rd gen!

I see quite a few people swapping the VQ30 OUT of the 4th gens and slapping in the VQ35 ...big improvement from 227HP to 255HP ( stock for stock )

so I want that jump in HP....( 190HP to 255HP )

i drive a 95 max se with a VQ30DE and im thinkin you may be able to swap a 4th gen VQ30 and it work but the 35 im not sure i dont visit the 3rd gen forum but anythings possiable

nah...you'd have to swap EVERYTHING from the VQ35 over...and from what I read...its not worth the swap.

but I think....turbocharging the VE30DE would be NICE!!!

but...what im worried about is the 10:1 compression its already sitting at!

that a bit high to boost...so ( IF ) I keep it....looks like I will have to rebuild it to a 8:1 then boost the beast...

every since I seen these videos....its got me HYPE!
