but...what im worried about is the 10:1 compression its already sitting at!

that a bit high to boost...so ( IF ) I keep it....looks like I will have to rebuild it to a 8:1 then boost the beast...

every since I seen these videos....its got me HYPE!

The difference for example between the VE and VG is the head design. 16 degree difference in valve clearence. The VE being the smaller. The camshaft is also different. Both have iron blocks.

Imo the VQ is better than both. More refined and smooth. The VQ responds better and is lighter because its all aluminum. Sticking a y pipe on a VQ in most cases nets 15hp combined with high flow intake will put you over 200HP at the crank easy.

There is also a variable intake manifold that comes on non us maximas. These maximas can make power thru redline because of it. From what I read a while ago swapping this into a usdm 4G maxima will get 10HP as well as widen the powerband.

VE and VG has different heads compared to each other. ( thats all )

VG in the 3rd gens are SOHC ...

VE in the 3rd gens are DOHC ( more power / more trq )

NOW, to put it into detail..

the VE30DE and the VQ30DE ( 4th gens )....has the same HP..BUT, the VQ30DE has 200 lbs of trq ( STOCK )..as compared to the even HP/Trq of the VE30DE ( 190hp/ 190 trq ) which isn't bad for its day!

        the VG30E in the 3rd gens are just a DETUNED version to the VG30DE ( 300ZX )

the VE30DE was only made for a few years ( hence, Making those said 3rd gen SEs RARE ) ..the VE30DE Maximas was only made through 92-94 and thats it.

        so more than likely...you will probably find a VG30 3rd gen ....rather than a VE30DE let alone a 5spd ( rare )

so far...I have found a few ( on craigslist ) I have found a few 3rd gen SEs but they were either the 89-91 VG30s or the 92-94 GXE automatics...Only SEs I found in 3rd gens were the 89-91s

so I guess finding a 92-94 ( SE ) is getting HARD.com to find in good shape!

        oh..and these cars are a bit heavy too ( 4200 lbs )

NOTE: 3rd gens are just like CBs ( they have 2 versions )

        89-91 ..AND 92-94.

lets take a peek on whats different on these 2 versions

        1) tail lights on the 89-91 goes all the way across....92-94...the ends curve downwards. ( cutting the clear parts short )

        2) front grill on the 89-91 has a middle bar....92-94s grill looks smoother.

        3) 89-91 are little smaller than the 92-94s...not by much...but just a little. ( wide )

        4) 89-91 NEVER had the pleasure of having the VE30DE ...only the VG30E ( auto and manual )

*** I know theres more differences but I can't think of them right now!

OH YEAH...some of the coolant overflows were on the driverside rather than the passenger side..and some came with digital gauge clusters rather than the analog ones.

( read the owners manual )

also....the VE30DE...has a Varible Intake manifold as well..not like the VQs but the VE30DE does have a varible Intake manifold...which also tears the VE apart from the VG30E.

              SEs were powered by VE30DE ( 190hp/ 190 trq )

..let me get to the question..

how the intake manifold sits....HOW do you get to the back 3 plugs?

I dont know THAT much about these engines....( 3.0L DOHC V6 )

the GXE models had VG30s but the SEs had the DOHC VE30s

NOTE: Im getting a 92 Maxima SE 5spd here by the end of the week...if all goes well.

I will take pics of it when I have it in my grasp.

tell then....HOW do you get to the back 3 plugs being the intake is covering the rear bank?

I been browsing the maxima forum for answers..and nothing yet...( I haven't registered yet )

I do like the Maxima....BUT, its nothing like what Im used to ( CB7s )...so, I hate to see it go..but Im getting back into another CB!

I asked you if you wanted me to keep it and give it to you...you said no...its too big....so...my decision is to sell it.
