The are I live in has the lowest wages in Alberta. Yet retail prices of everything seem to continue to jump. Real estate is the worst. 5 years ago, the average house was worth 75-125k. Now its hard to find ANYTHING for under 200k.

Minimum wage raises increases inflation unnecessarily.

Oh and the gas being cheaper is because somebody has to pay for the charges it takes to process credit cards. When a transaction is processed most merchant services people take 1%-3% of the price off the top. So gas stations offer discounts to people who pay cash. This is because with the advent of the pay-at-the-pump now probably 90% of business is all electronic. If the gas station can get some of that business to use cash instead they save money.

went to the real estate auction this weekend and houses valued at around 700-800k were only going for about 400k.

my dad could have picked up a house that weekend for under 200k!

as for my situation, i get paid shit but i love my job.

The increase in prices IS inflation. The only thing that's changing is the RATE of inflation.

Hmm...I don't think the stations around here offer discounts...but I'll have to see next time I buy gas.
