Looks like a Daewoo trying to be a Lexus. You have to wonder if this company has any affiliation with any of the notorious Chinese "copy" companies (there were companies that were making outright copies of Toyotas, without permission, and calling them their own)

China WILL become a major player in the automotive market, no doubt about it. This won't be what does it, I'm sure.

Hyundai's new Genesis Coupe is going to put them in a new league... unless it really really sucks.

GM killed the US Daewoo market (though cars like the Chevy Aveo, Suzuki Verona, and Suzuki Reno are all rebadged Daewoos) so we need to fill that "crap brand" market again! Hyundai is getting to be on-par with the big Japanese makers, at least as far as consumers go. Kia is Hyundai, and they'll be soon to follow.

now the question is...what happens to the sales of Honda/Toyota/Nissan...Hyandai/Kia is going to displace them somehow. RWD Tiburon = Sweet

                1) most new cars are all alike, overpriced and ugly.

                2) HONDA started somewhere, TOYOTA started somewhere and these guys have to as well

                3) EVERYONE steals design intricacies from everyone else. the c6 vettes remind me of a half ferrari/half FD rx7.........20 years ago, all the buicks/cadillacs looked alike.........now, about half the cars would look alike under an 1" of snow

The Chinese companies, at least in the past, have been known to actually copy... not show a strong influence (like the recent Sonatas...) but COPY... Toyota designs. Like the Mazda Tribute... it's a Ford Explorer, sold as a Mazda... only with Ford in on the deal.

These cars are likely to be garbage for the first 10-15 years, especially if they do all their own engineering, and don't blatantly steal designs from other manufacturers (which is the only way they'll ever truly compete, at least in quality). China has the resources though, and they're growing economically... VERY quickly. Getting into the automotive market will increase that considerably as well (notice how all the car-producing countries are considered some of the most "civilized" countries in the world).

And about the Genesis Coupe... it was rumored to replace the Tiburon, but now I've heard that the Tiburon will remain in the lineup as a FWD car.

Don't know if you guys knew this or not, but...you see that Chery QQ3? It's a Chevy Aveo. Or rather, the Chevy Aveo is a QQ3. Not a Daewoo.

The Aveo is a Daewoo Kalos. It is the successor to the Lanos (which my friend managed to total at 35mph... )

                        From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chery_QQ

The car is at the center of an industrial rights controversy, since GM have claimed that it is very similar to the Chevrolet Spark/Daewoo Matiz. GM executives have proved that the doors of the Chery car can be mounted on the Chevrolet Spark without modification,[1] and Car and Driver, an automobile magazine, even calls it "a copy".

In Iran, the Chevrolet Spark/Daewoo Matiz had been assembled by local company Kerman Khodro since the year 2000 in a joint venture with the South Korean GM Daewoo. However the crisis at Daewoo resulted in a take-over by the American General Motors corporation, which then put a ban on Iran and stopped supplying CKD kits to the Iranian company. This resulted in Kerman Khodro licencing the Chery QQ car for the replacement and put it into production at their subsidiary MVM.[2]

                        From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chery_Automobile

Chery gained international notoriety over well-publicized illegal copying of foreign automobiles, namely General Motors' Korean subsidiary GM Daewoo Auto & Technology's Daewoo Matiz (sold as Chery QQ) city car and Daewoo Magnus (sold as Chery Eastar) mid-size sedan. Chery attempted to negotiate a local Chinese production licenses of those vehicles with bankrupt Daewoo Motors prior to General Motor's purchase of the bankrupt automaker's assets in 2002,[1] but the negotiations were never closed.[2] Nevertheless, Chery proceeded with the production of these former Daewoo vehicles without a formal license, triggering General Motors to sue Chery for copying in December 2004, citing "extreme similarities".[3][4]

With General Motor's inability to seek justice at Chinese court that fails to honor foreign IP rights in spite of an obvious and clear piracy case and the pressure from Chinese communist party, GM opted to drop its case in November 2005 to preserve its business interests in China and maintain good will with the government. However, GM reserves rights to sue Chery again if it attempts to bring the vehicles in question to European and North American markets. The affected vehicles are three Matiz clone and derivatives(QQ3, QQ6 and A1) and Magnus clone and derivatives (Eastar, V4, B12, and B22). The IP rights issue has become such a concern that DCX is rumored to have contacted GM for possible licensing of GM Daewoo vehicle IP on the behalf of Chery[5] after it signed a 25-year cooperation and exclusive distribution agreement with Chery in early 2007.

If the Eastar is a copy of the Magnus, then it'll be the same as the Suzuki Verona that we have here (which is a Daewoo Magnus). The Magnus was the successor to the Leganza.

Yes, I've researched Daewoo pretty well. I thought they might be a good ground-floor company to mess with, especially with Hyundai's success in bringing the Korean cars to this country. When they were going out of business in the US, thanks to GM's takeover, you could grab TWO Daewoo Lanos's for the price of one... which was like $7000. Two brand new cars for $7000. I don't care HOW crappy they are (they were related to the last Geo/Chevy Metro)... two cars for $7000 is killer!

LOL. So it's a Daewoo sold as a Chevy, sold as a Chery QQ.
