I have no problem with mainstream music.

I do however, have a problem with rap, hip hop, and r&b. It's all crap, in my opinion.

People are so fucking stupid, I tell ya. If they don't like or understand it, it's automatically 'stupid', or 'all crap' or whatever. There's a lot of stuff I don't like, but I don't immediately write it off because it's different strokes for different folks. I don't even care that dude doesn't like rap, who cares, it's the fact that he embraces and justifies his own ignorance with such pride. Plus of course there's the whole issue with rap always being under attack... you don't see people coming into heavy metal threads yelling, 'arrr arr this is all crap. all crap'...

I'm a suburban white kid covered in tattoo's. I own original sex pistols vinyl and my ipod has the jay-z and kanye's discography on it. I know the lyrics to cam'ron songs, I also know blink 182's damnit album word for word. I like bands like jimmy eat world cause they're great artists. I can relate to just about anything. Fifty Cent makes me giggle, and I'll kick it to some eminem ever now and then.

The attitude towards genre's of music I'm sure is the same attitude you hold towards people that drive domestic cars. Appreciate all ART for what it is. Even if it is fucking lame in your opinion.

but my take on it is, some music is art, some music is just fun, some is in between.

Vivaldi's Four Seasons - Definitely more artish to me

Brand New's latest album with all the religious metaphors - Artish, but just plain awesome rock

Jayz's Black Album - Some poignant commentary about life in the hood, but for me personally just awesome subwoofer music.

For someone else those same albums are going to provoke entirely different responses........but to each their own. I can't call rap and r&b plain crap cuz I like some of it. I don't always like some of the subtler messages that come with them, but what can you do? Don't like it, don't listen
