dual boot is a nightmare unless you know what you're doing... Easier if you have hot swap drives.
Why do you say that? I'm dual-booting Ubuntu and XP (separate partitions on an 80GB IDE drive), and I had no major problems. My boot times are longer, and there are still the random glitches with Ubuntu due to me screwing with settings and learning Linux, but aside from that, my PC is still fully operational.
To Acc0rd22, that triple-boot setup sounds sweet, but I bet it was a nightmare to get everything set up right!
If anyone wants to mess around with linux, I now offer Virtual Private Servers. I can put whatever version of nix on there for you to mess with. You can get shell access, or if you want remote desktop, I can set that up, too. Could be good for someone to mess with to learn. Messing with it wont screw anything up. If anything dies I'll just have to reformat the VPS. All in all its a pretty inexpensive way to mess around with nix. Prices range depending on what you want for specs.
Dual boot is pretty tough to get working right if you're not familiar with nix, boot partitions, etc. Not impossible, but its tough to get working right. I've got hot swaps so I'm set. Thats the best way I've found to do things. I was also thinking about various ways to turn a hard drive on/off to switch os's that way.

It was pretty sweet, but I never really got it working 100% before I gave up on it. Whatevs, I barely ever turn off my computer, so switching OSes was fairly unnecessary anyways. OS X does everything I want it to do.
I ran mandrake for awhile, loved it. I switched back because I did a lot of VB6 programming and not enough java/c++ for me to enjoy it. I really want to try slackware though.
