Well CA people are retarded (not pointing at all just mainly the tree huggers) for doing that...They are into there hybrids. Diesels can get better mileage than hybrids and technology nowadays diesels are burning clean and efficient. I would rather drive a diesel powered car than a POS hybrid that takes 10 sec to 60 and rides like shit. CA is probably doing that because when people hear the term "diesel" they hear black smoke and dirtyness...But in reality they are pretty clean burning and get some bad ass gas mileage...Tree huggers...Die. I dont see Europe going to hell using diesels. Hell they use them 90% of the damn time.

That is true. When hybrids came out fire fighters have to take a new tactic. You cant use water with electricity. We learned that when we were kids. So hybrids are something to think about. Another thing they do have a cut off switch when people are battling the blazes as I recall I forgot. But whats that gonna do. And as you mentioned the batteries. I love how people ramble how clean there hybrid is. Look how its made. As you mentioned and I know making batteries is not clean business at all. Its not good for the environment. So whats the big deal with hybrids? All those big glam stars have em and the "boasted" gas mileage. The prius doesnt even get what the manufacturer claims. Gee I wonder why. You might be able to get the so called 60mpg or whatever it was rated doing like 20mph. Not that I am a fan of paris but people need to be more like her. Buy an F430 or an SLR. Thats the only way to go. But anyways I would buy a diesel for these reasons: more power, more room, better gas mileage (most of the time), and you wont die in one.
