    I quit!!

Smoking cigarettes! It's been a over a week. This is my second time trying, I've been smoking for 14 years (half my life). I tried the gum the first day and I was slowly going insane...it didnt work and it was making me slightly crazy. My girlfriend is using the gum and she's doing good with it. The first time I tried quitting I used the patch and it worked for 9 weeks, so I went to the patch again and I dont know if it's all psychosomatic, but as soon as I put the patch on I started feeling better. So hopefully I can be smoke free in the future!

Awesome! Good luck man... I know quitting is tough. My mom has tried to quit half a dozen times in the past 10 years. She tried everything... patch, gum, even acupuncture. It doesn't help that her fiance won't quit with her!

It's good that your girlfriend is quitting at the same time. Try to support each other, rather than being at each others' throats when you have a nic-fit!

      I'm glad I never started...

Sweet! I've been tobacco free for almost three weeks. I cut down to a few a day at New Years and had my last one at 11:30 pm on the 7th. No patch, no gum, just riding out the feeling. I've smoked for over 20 years and I would rather have had all that cash. It's all about will power.

lol, I've been thinking it's kind of like breaking up with someone. A hundred times a day I think about it and then there's the realization that "Oh yeah, damn, Not going to do that ever again."

i quit 6 years ago. the only method i would use is cold turkey. the reason being is that if you just stop, it takes 2-3 days for the nicotine to exit your body and once that is done, then you just have to get used to not smoking.

if you use patches or gum, it's like smoking still, but you're just not inhailing smoke. remember, the whole point is to stop, not keep adding nicotine.

you could look at it this way, if you smoke or don't smoke you're still going to want a ciggerette.

you have to get used to what it feels like not to smoke. it's like a crutch that you depend on and as time goes on, you will get stronger without it.

you will have both time and money.

it will always sound like a good idea to smoke, but you must resist. good luck. later.

Good job man. That was the hardest thing for me to do. It's been 5yrs. since I walked away. I did it cold turkey. Gained 20 lbs. because of it but I would have rather did it that way than kept smoking.

              Keep it up man.

I think that is the biggest problem I have. They just seemed to go together.

                      Good job!

If u have the urge to smoke, grab a handful of peanuts (assuming you aint allergic) and shove em down. It works!

                      Or bite on any smorgasbord.

i realized when i stop smoking...that i only smoked when i had nothing really to do...for example...on my way to work...i would smoke..., then at work...normally you have the smoking group...ok...have another...then when break came around...another..then on lunch...then...on the way home..wow...crazy huh....never addicted to the nicotine...like i needed it but when you hang around people who smoke..and you are a smoker...you probly lit one up when they do...cause you got nothing much to do...

its been about 7 years...and i can smell cigrette smoke from far...and cant stand the smell...

also quit smoking weed...12years ago...but that smells pretty good...hahaha...

Once you quit the hard part is not starting again. Quit and stick with it, never weaken. Take the $5 or $10 you save per week and put it towards something, you'll see how quick it adds up!

Good luck man, I'm trying to quit right now, taking it really slow though. One every three hours this month, one every four hours next month, and so on until it's just not practical to keep buying. I know my way is a really slow proccess, but I was really bad about three months ago, one or more an hour. And I know it's never practical to buy them and light themup, its all relative, you know? Again good luck.
