as for the money put towards a new car i would rather drop 2k and have this one running again than make payments for the next 5 years ...

for the sound it actually sounded like detonation and a low pop afterwards ...

me and Tn_Accords was just talking about the block and we are gonna take it to a machine shop and see if its salvagable, that way if i blow up my next one i might be able to fall back on something.

and since i doing it all from the top this time instead of trying to fix someone elses project it will be done right this time

I was kinda thinking along those lines too because then it would be a great time for some mahle gold series high comp pistons.

O and I meant like what happened leading up to the failure. Were you gunning it in vtec, cruising on the highway,... etc etc?

Damn goodluck dude as far as for payments for the next 5 years i paid mine off in full so i wouldnt know about that. And as far as my motor blowing up thats what warrantee's are for what they dont know what i did with my car wont hurt em. To each his or her own I used to do the same thing and invest in an old car liek my previous ones. After awhile it was coming to a point where i just said yaknow what its time to move on to bigger and better things. It was fun while it lasted but im happy now and its reliable.

And this is a site for 90-93 Accords. Get over it, Mike.

As for the motor... you were running it on a basemap? There's no such thing as an "unstable" basemap... they're ALL unstable. NO motor should be run solely on a basemap. The only purpose of such a thing is to get the engine running so it can be tuned.

I've seen more motors blown because people thought a basemap was like a "stock tune" for a turbo motor Tuning isn't always to pull out optimal power... it's to prevent THAT from happening.

Still, the $2000 seems to have been well spent. If the damage was a result of driving on a basemap, it's a shame that $2000 wasn't able to be spent upgrading the motor, rather than replacing it.

this was just before it blew up ... so it should tell ya lol ...

me and Tn_Accords on new years day hehe

If the block is salvagable im gonna use it to build up for boost ... if it isnt no one will want it anyways lol

any accesory parts such as starter, alternator, intake manifold, etc. im gonna keep for future uses in case of part failures

trust me man if i could get away with buying a new car i would be on it like white on rice in a glass of milk on a paper plate in a snow storm ....but ... I just need a running car that i can appreciate until after i get my house ... I should have never got rid of my 4 door since i built that one from the beginning and wont get rid of this one after i do this swap for a very long time hehe ...

the way i look at it dont race and do stupid shit unless you can afford to pay for it later ... lol

with the lc-1 wide band o2 gauge kit ill be able to tune it myself but i plan on getting a stock ecu to run it until i can actually get it to a tuner to make sure everything is tip top

Ok, that sounds like a plan. I have an Innovate LM-1, along with a datalogger, chipped P28, and all the necessary software to create a fuel map. I also have spare chips. All I need is a burner!

Even though I have all the stuff, I'm still slowly learning what it takes to tune... I haven't done anything but datalog in my car yet.

Having the stuff to tune is about 20% of being able to do it... you need the knowledge! I'm lucky that I had the chance for MRX to personally tune my car. He did it in a fairly short time, with limited tools, so there are improvements to be made... but I have one hell of a foundation to work with!

yeah i have been trying to crack tuning for about a year now and its a bitch to say the least. I have the stuff to tune now ...but... as you said the knowledge is another thing. Since I learn better by watching someone and having them explain things it is hard for me to learn by reading. My plan is to try to get someone to take me on as an apprentince or something so that I might learn better. It is hard to do though since most everyone in the tuning world is guarding what knowledge they have or only giving you enough to understand the basics.

ebay ... seller was nagasaki_motors2006 ... 99.6 seller feedback ... the 1 negative feedback was left due to the guy claiming not to have gotten everything for a swap but he ordered a motor only according to seller ... the few neutral were due to lack of communication which i have already experienced since he hasnt responded to any of my emails ... but i am gonna call the place tomorrow to get the low down.

motor was 900 shipping was 300

there were cheaper motors but after reviewing feedback on them alot had complaints of bad motors where this one didnt have any complaints about bad motors or delayed shipping
