Worse than brake dust... what about brake cooling? Your brakes are going to bake in those sealed-up things! Even steelies provide a little airflow... These things do nothing! And seeing as they're plastic, they won't radiate the heat away like an alloy wheel (or even steel) would.

Dem's some trailer queen wheels right thur.

He does have a point. But you don't do much braking there. Paracutes ftw!

Exactly. On runs like that, you want the least wind resistance. You wouldn't want to drive or race with those wheels either!

The ingenuity is nice, but the practicallity of it not so nice. I wonder what legal issue you are going to have when one of those snaps and breaks on you.

As people mentioned the only thing I would use that for is show to show off a bbk or suspension components. Other than that I would not use it for anything else.

They'd be cool to show off some interesting rotors... I took this pic at HIN last summer. Never saw anything like it before.

The rims look nice but... I wonder how do they stand up to everyday driving and fatigue like etc Potholes more potholes, curbrash, excessive heat from the brakes under stop and go conditions, rainy weather I wonder what kind of plastic material is holding the metal center or what would happen if it were to round out and come loose even though the lugnuts can still be tight on it.

Um, yeah as others said, dirt, brake dust, and just not DD worthy. Hmm, i wonder what will be next. See through tires? I know, how about transformer rims! Change from 3-7 spoke or something.

how reliable are these. Shit a hammer to the rim and your car is done for.

I was doing some research on them a long time ago when I heard about them. They've done daily driven situations to test them out in real life situation and they did ok. One complaint they had was how easily scratched they would get. But other than that they look nice.

The picture of the green show car is a solstice or a sky (forgot which one) but I saw articles about it. Very neat car, won many first place prizes.

And Deevs, brake cooling is not a major concern for the wheels. Most cars have front vented rotors and the heat can escape from the rear (towards the hub). They are coated with some teflon/non sticking material so brake dust don't stick as well but they will show nonetheless.
