twin scroll turbo?

I'm learning about the new 08 mini... its got a twin scroll turbo... How does this differ from a normal turbo? How does it compare to twin turbo? I'm looking for some info on it... just wondering if anyone here knows anything about them?

twin turbos is what it is, 2 turbos.

a twin scroll turbo, like what the Scooby STi has, is a turbo which has 2 inlets, allowing for faster spool up.

so in effect, its a twin turbo in one... so one can scroll for lower RPM and the other can scroll for higher RPM?


It also had an 'over boost feature... boosts 15hp extra... how do you figure that works?

outlets or inlets? coz i learnt that it was 2 inlets or something like that.

notice the exhaust port has 'two' openings, which allow for more directed exhaust to hit the blades, thus eliminating more turbo lag in the process.

Only JDM Scoobies have twin scroll. None of the US spec cars have been equipped with them.
