Just to note, you might want to spend a little more than 4k for a decent condition A4.

Before buying the one we have now, we checked a bunch of 'em and test drove them all. A BUNCH of Audi's we drove were trashed. We ended up spending an extra 1000 bucks, but got a great condition one.


With that said, the A4's been driven over 60k miles (113k miles on the clock), and we've spent less than 400 bucks on it.


I'd buy another Audi again without hesitating. They're putting out the best designs of any company as of now too, imo.



EDIT: Just to say, if the Audi's a six as you said, its not turbo'd unless its an S4... but it's a '99 and S4's in that shape weren't being made yet. Which ever car you get though, I'm sure you'll like it. Go for which ever one seems to be in better shape.

Yeah dude, of course not counting that. I'm talking about money spent on it for broken/malfunctioning parts. You're going to have to pay for gas money no matter what car you buy so I'm not gonna include that in cost.

my friend hasa jetta other has a audi jetta is $$ for repairs but i can only imagine so is the Audi...Audi is nicer...........also since 3 out of 4 people that have that gen jetta are girls go with the audi

well what i can see and what i know both are very good cars.

but when i compared them to a honda they are ahead of technology but not ahead of reliably.

but i was wondering why is the audi cheaper? than the jetta? both the same year and everything but i'd think the audi be waaayyy more.

but i'd go for a audi cuz it is a far nicer car. but for me i am not ready for the headahces of working on them.


don't let the guys get you on the jetta, i drove a few and they are TIGHT! and chicks will dig you. only thing ya gotta hook it right. as i can see it already have rims and tint.

as for engine wise u ever heard of the term of 2.slow? don't let that get ya. ALL vw guys i know say the 2.0 owns a NA 1.8 in reliably.


i know so far three ppl with jetta's and golfs plus my dad's sister her whole family drive audi's and vw's. if taken care of right that car will last you a good while.


but remme they are ahead of technology, so the reliably factor is not totally there as some cars. so be ready to deal with that.

as for insurance, audi would cost more....
