lol yeah i reread that again.

i see your point, so at that speeds 80-85 the engine don't have to work as hard since the car is alreay hauling down.

maybe thats why the crx hf with super high gearing get really good mpg

Maybe I have some other problem, I know the auto tranny is...well an auto, during my trip I ran into a couple times where the torque converter was hunting, sort of going up and down by a few hundred rpms every few seconds. I wonder if it is slipping and making me lose mpg. I also think I should do a compression test some time.

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

They also have 2 valves per cylinder, different cam lift, valve springs and clearance. A different exhaust manifold and intake, and smaller intake and exhaust tubing. And a lower idle...

If the TC is not locking and staying locked properly, that would most certainly have a big influence on MPG. It is much less efficient not locked up.

It varies based on car. The main reason the CRX HF gets good MPG is because it doesn't weigh anything, and it is small, which means less surface area for drag.

A good tune up with OEM parts probably wouldn't hurt. You can search for MPG, and I think that will turn up some good results on things you can check on your car, to try and squeeze as much MPG as possible out of the car.

Not to mention the 1.5 engine.

Most cars get best gas mileage when around 55-60 mph though. Some cars have overdrive transmissions, which help get better gas mileage. Overdrive typically kicks in at 55

I don't know what I could squeeze out of the H, but I used to run about 400 miles before the needle touched "E", and that gave me about 3-4 gallons in the tank when the light started to come on. I think 500 in many cases would have been safely attainable, but 450 shouldn't have been a problem at all.

One thing about big MPG, is that you usually run out of bladder before fuel, if the tank is big enough.
