you guys should read the story about a chinese businessman who vowed not to drive any car not made in china after the airbags in his S350 didnt 'function' in a crash.

Obviously that dude hasnt heard of intelligent airbags.

watching it evolve from the r32....... like the r32 was the first skyline?
The R32 was the second Skyline to bear the GT-R badge, but the first turbo AWD monster. It was the beginning of the line of GT-R models that lead to this car... though I don't like this one all that much, simply because it's no longer a Skyline GT-R... it's JUST a GT-R.

Still, it is quite sad to see.

I agree somewhat with the author about the Italian sportscars vs. the GT-R. Not because of his opinion of the owners of the Italian machines, but because the GT-R is more meaningful to me. I'm a huge Skyline fan, and even though this one isn't technically a Skyline, it's still the result of 3 generations of GT-Rs. The Italian cars are unattainable, whereas the Skyline is something I want to own myself someday (and WILL own someday). This isn't the destruction of someone else's dream car, this is the destruction of MY dream car!

Enough about this car already. Damn its a car crash, not big deal.

The only thing i hope dosent happen is that the parts for them dont become ultra rare down the like. Sorta like Supra and the jz trannies. But if theyre gonna mass produce then, I dont give a fuck, I hope they all crash for all i care.

Yes, but those were not AWD, nor were they turbo. The GT-R that lead to the current non-Skyline GT-R was the R32/R33/R34. The old ones are the original GT-Rs, yes... but they are considerably different from the models that brought the line such worldwide recognition and "supercar" status.

Just to pick on you, but maybe your target is too low.

You can never land higher in life than your target, so if you aim for an Enzo and get a GT-R, you are in OK shape. Conversely, if you land at the point where you can buy an Enzo, but still want a GT-R, then you just pocket the difference.

I like the GT-R and it is a sad loss, but ultimately, there will come a point in time when it is attainable by the common man. Much as many Ferraris have.

Very true. I don't associate the value of the car, or even the extent of the engineering, with my desire, however. I like the car for other reasons. It's not a goal because it's the best thing out there, but it's a goal simply because I like it (the looks, the performance, the upgradability... I wouldn't want to mod a Ferrari, but I'd mod a Skyline, and to me, modifying cars is half the fun!)

To me, a Skyline GT-R is better than an Enzo. Clearly not faster. Clearly not more expensive. Clearly not as uncommon. Certainly not engineered as well, or built as well. But for my own purposes, to my own taste, and for my own desires, the GT-R is better.

I understand what you are saying.

Also, it should be noted ahead of time that I like Ferraris mostly because of the ungodly noises they make, but really I am not unrealistic about what they are. A very big % of the cash cost is the name, and I tend to rebel against things like that.

I don't know if I would mod a GT-R or not. It is seriously getting to the point where stock cars can travel at ludicrous speed. The Z06 and the upcoming ZR-1 being good examples.

But I do understand what you are saying, as I tend to be the same way. One reason I LOVE NSX's. You get the sounds, the charachter (except for the reliability and ridiculous repair bills), and I wouldn't feel like a heel for modifying one. And I just like them.

I wasn't attacking you, just giving you shit mostly. LOL!
