Maybe they thought they saw you lean over or something, and thought you may have grabbed a weapon. You never know.

i do believe that being a police officer over many years can have severe detriments to the brain. cops have a higher percentage rate of being wife beaters and alchoholics.
Being an officer eats away at your soul, because every person on this planet has different opinions, and when being a police officer, you limit yourself to the people you surround yourself with. your lifestyle has to be what the government dictates, and not what you believe.
You become opinionless, and thoughtless. A tool of the law.
Every cop in existence has used there power immorally at one time or another. All humans commit immoral acts, all police are humans, therefore, all police do commit immoral acts.
back to the OP, the law works against you, if you had weed in the car, hyou wold have gone to jail and had in thrown out in court, but you would still have gone to jail, and the cop would have one more bust on his record, one more trophy on his shelf.
and unless they pulled a rodney king, you cant sue the cops.]

After a while the position gets to their head and they think they can do whatever they want. They all forget exactly the amount of damage they are doing to people and they dont give a fuck about it.
I have only met 1 cop ever that treated me like a person. Like a regular person, that is something i never knew how it felt, untill this one time. He was polite and didnt assume anything. Instead of the mandatory 90 jail sentance and a bunch of BS fines, all i got was 2 tickets that total to less than $200.

Just remember this. Cops are human beings also and they have families and live a normal life. They are just doing thier job to protect and serve the public people. They want to able to go home alive and in one piece. Also remember its a stressful job and they have to deal with a lot of assholes. It's a high risk line of work. Especially at night cops are overly cautious and are highly aware of dangers that can lurk at night. They are often a one man team with no partners. So put yourself in his shoes.Last edited by Chan_Man; 01-08-2008, 03:29 AM."form follows function."

X2 on the one cop treated me nice thing, but that was only because I was in Boy Scouts with his son... To be honest, I have nothing but respect for cops, they do get the power trip thing going. I don't want to get an exhaust for my car because cops around where I live use that as an excuse to pull you over, because they are afraid of people street racing, so they make it no fun to just mod your car. I'm a track person, myself.
I've got two similar stories: once, while I still had my permit, I got pulled over for the "busted tag light" excuse, and another time was last summer, a cop pulled me over, and basically spent 30 minutes calling me a liar and treating me like I was retarded. I literally hadn't done anything wrong, this cop tracked me down after 3 miles of me doing the speed limit, and right before he pulled me over we drove right past the Police Dept and the local CHP office. He waited to pull me over until I had turned into the parking lot of my girlfriends apartment. He said I was speeding. Speeding past two police departments in a row.
Yeah, bullshit.Last edited by benji; 01-08-2008, 04:49 AM.1992 Prelude S w/swapped H22A

Originally posted by MadSpleen85A tag light out IS in most states enough reason for a Police Officer to stop you. Most agencies would issue a Fix-it Ticket, where you have a set number of days to make the needed repair and then take the vehicle to the Police Station to confirm that the repair was made, at which point the Fix-it Ticket is voided and you do not have to pay anything.
Not trying to sound like a dick but are you really giving us the full story? Where were you coming from at 2am? Everyone claims they were just going along minding the laws. Were the Impala or the F-150 marked patrol cars (Did it say City of ____ on the side)? Was there a light bar on the roof of the car or was it on the dash? Were they uniformed officers with badges or were they in street clothes?
From what you have described, the way the officers stopped you and removed you from the vehicle at gunpoint is what most departments call a "Felony Stop." I don't know about where you are from, but around here Police ONLY pull infront of a suspect vehicle AFTER the suspect is in custody. With one vehicle infront of the suspect vehicle and one behind, if the suspect were to pull a gun any officer that fired his/her weapon would be taking the chance of shooting a fellow officer because of the cross-fire.
Did you give any consent for them to search your vehicle or did they just take it upon themselves to search it?
It ALMOST sounds like you were caught up in some kind of sting operation. Like they saw your vehicle leaving a known drug house that they are staking out. If these were truly Police officers in Patrol cars or some kind of sting operation there will be video. 98% of Police Patrol vehicles have Video/Audio Recording equipment. Most sting operations are also recorded just so that there is no question about what actually took place, since video does not lie.
If you are 100% positive that you were stopped by the Police and not some pranksters the I would immediatly go to the Police Station that is in the same city as the stop took place. I would ask to speak with a Seargent or higher ranking person, to file the report. If you do that and feel like you have SERIOUSLY been mistreated and you are not being heard, schedule an appointment to speak with the Police Chief, or a City Council person.
If looking back it looks like you were stopped by a group of people that were not Police, File a Police report with all the information that you have. From what you described that IS NOT Police Procedure.. UNLESS there are details missing from your story.

And to anyone that thinks they are being mistreated by the Police. Respect the officer, Comply with the officer, if you have nothing to hide you should have no problem with your vehicle being searched. Seriously, what is the big deal with giving consent to search if you have nothing to hide?
Originally posted by "http://dictionary.law.com" Search Probable Causeprobable cause- n. sufficient reason based upon known facts to believe a crime has been committed or that certain property is connected with a crime. Probable cause must exist for a law enforcement officer to make an arrest without a warrant, search without a warrant, or seize property in the belief the items were evidence of a crime. While some cases are easy (pistols and illicit drugs in plain sight, gunshots, a suspect running from a liquor store with a clerk screaming "help"), actions "typical" of drug dealers, burglars, prostitutes, thieves, or people with guilt "written across their faces," are more difficult to categorize. "Probable cause" is often subjective, but if the police officer's belief or even hunch was correct, finding stolen goods, the hidden weapon or drugs may be claimed as self-fulfilling proof of probable cause. Technically, probable cause has to exist prior to arrest, search or seizure.
