Sounds good man...so what bands inspire you?

Man... there are too many to list! All the bands listed above on Jade Tree, Descendents/All, Slapstick, Lawrence Arms, Dillenger Four, The Smiths, The Get Up Kids... Hell, my own personal influences are quite varied. I'd have to say my two biggest bass influences are Steve Harris from Iron Maiden, and Alec John Such from Bon Jovi. I didn't go looking for their styles, but they just kinda came out when I started playing. Ideally, I want to get to play like Roger from Less Than Jake, or Carl Alvarez from Descendents/All.


We're all pretty much into the same stuff, while being EXTREMELY varied in other areas. Hell, Bob plays the bagpipes, and Andy plays the trumpet! Not on anything we do, but they can play those instruments. I actually came from a jazz guitar background myself (though all that knowledge is long gone!)

Its a shame you look a ton older than you really are....I would honestly think youre a 30-40 something father..... Might be the beard and hair color though...band pic looks like "2 older guys & their young college friend"

The sad thing is that I AM getting old... Andy, the drummer (in front) is 2 months younger than me, and Bob (standing there... freezing his ballzinis off) is about 2 years younger than me.

My hair is going gray... doesn't look bad, but I suppose it makes me look older. But whatever... that just makes me look like the cool old guy that's playing punk! (or not... the nerdy old guy that's playing punk, perhaps?)

I dyed it black in the last band I was in... back when I was 20. It looked TERRIBLE! Even dyed the beard black to match When it got too long, I shaved the sides... so it ended up looking like I was wearing a black toupe!

The picture in my sig is how I look now. I cut the hair and shaved off most of the chin weasel.

That is because the best bands play for the music, and the sheer enjoyment of it only.
