Thinking about getting a crotch rocket in spring...

I need to learn how to ride though... does anyone have any suggestions on how to learn?

Whats a good starter bike (I was thinking along the lines of a Suzuki GSXR 650)?

Do you have to have good credit to buy a bike?

Is it worth it to get one? I mostly want it just to cruise and occasionally days to work.

Its in Arizona so I can ride it most of the year.

    Feedback is wanted and appreciated.

My brother bought a Kawasaki ZZR600 for his first bike. He loves it. You may want to look into it.

Make sure you take the MSA course, it's a course in motorcycle safety and hand handling, don't try to show off for friends, and take its slow. BTW not trying to call you out or anything, but it's either a GSXR600 or GSXR750, they never made a 650. Which one are you looking at because honestly, for your first bike you only need the 600, probably 90% of the riders who have a 750 or larger still can't ride the 600 to it's limits. Also insurance rates tend to jump pretty good from 600 to 750. And don't hate me for this next one, but how old are you? The reason I ask is because if you're under 25 or so you may want to consider a GSX500. They are a little bit smaller, insurance is cheaper, and they cost less. Good luck with it.

i suggest you find a good used bike.something that you won't feel bad for laying over. it's not if you lay it down,it's when.

also make sure you can put your feet flat on the ground while sitting on it. I know it sounds stupid, but I have seen people dump bikes because they couldn't put their feet all the way down.

unless it's a dual sport (dirt bike)

                          I started off with a 400, then went to a 700

                          I could ride anything.

I never took a class, I just understood the principles and the physics of a two wheeled vehicle.

and practice just as much as possible so you get used to brakeing and lowspeed driveing etc and like blue stated take a riders course they are very helpful and can get 10% of your ins plus find a good helmet , it needs to be snell and d.o.t cert and ware the right clothing and gloves as well, jacket these are all things that can protect you in a crash.the last thing is be defensive driver dont assume they can see you or are even looking for you always look for an out always keep enough space for you to get around safe.
