I got a new laptop!

And it won't start. Sonofabitch...




I had my old crappy laptop (the one with the non-functional keyboard) plugged into my inverter in my car, on my way to work. I stopped for gas, and when i restarted the car, it somehow blew the screen. It won't light up anymore (though still display... nearly invisible though).

So, I called out of work, and I went and bought a brand new Compaq Presario F700 at CompUSA. It's a nice computer. The cheapest one they had, but it's probably better than my desktop

However, I plugged it in, and hit the power button... NOTHING. The charging light is on, but no power. No hard drives spinning, no fans running... nothing. DOA.

I need this thing for work on Tuesday (the work I was going to do today!) Now I have to go back tomorrow, and rush tomorrow night to make sure it has everything I need on it (including, possibly, eliminating that shitty Vista and putting good ol' XP on it!)

Just overwrite Vista with XP. It's what I did. Didn't take long at all.

Yeah, I've reformatted and installed plenty of times. Unless the hardware is only compatible with Vista, which is entirely possible... then I'm screwed!

I happen to like vista. Its way cooler than xp.

But anyways that sucks that you got a good laptop and it didn't work. I got mine from black friday and Im on it right now and it works fine

Better off keeping Vista. You only have to disable half of the stuff that comes with it. Fuck the sidebar.

I'll have to see what software I can run with Vista. If I can't run my current versions of Excel and Streets & Trips, I'm "downgrading" to XP.
