.::Official "how too" spell correctly thread::.

Ok so this is in response to the few threads that people create griping about misspelled words and grammar and etc.

Usually simple to many, can be tricky for a few but i believe there are some tricks that people are not aware about.

For instance....in Firefox(I don't use IE so i don't know sorry) if you misspell a word it instantly underlines it in red, alerting you to a mistake.

    Example:

    See how it's underlined?

When that happens all you have to do to correct it, is right click.

Now it gives you some choices at the top of the menu. All you have to do is choose the correct one. As you can see, you can also add words that YOU know are correct to the Dictionary.

You may also Spell Check the text field in question.

So now all you have to do is write out whatever it is your going to post and check it for errors....either fix one by one or fix them all at once.

And i just checked, this option is not available for quick posts(you know when you post within the thread as opposed to using the advanced posting option)

Although you may use the spell check option via right click.

Hope someone finds this use full.

I usually preview my post before I "post" it.

            Or

I just read what I typed and make sure I spelled everything correctly.

            Now grammar is another thing.

Speling is fer lusers. Gramma is retarded. On a brighter note Firefox has squiggly lines just like microsoft word to tell you if your shit is spelled wrong.

Electronic spell checkers fail horribly in many cases, such as homonyms. That is probably the biggest error with spell check. The grammar check is just generally pretty bad all around.

It is an ongoing complaint in the professional world, because we rely on our spelling and grammar check, because we are confident it knows more than we do (in many cases, it appears that it does), and in actuallity, there are a TON of errors associated with it.

Nothing will replace a good entry level college grammar course. It sucks, but I think I learned more there, that in just about every other class.

lets remember that many members in the board are not Americans. English might be second or third language they speak and on top of that they might use I E which does not offer the spelling thing that Firefox has.

ps. i used it 3 times while writing this paragraph.

That happens to me too. My mind thinks faster than my fingers, and i always end up leaving out words.
