    Hey guys,

anyone have experience with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500...I am getting together a computer for our Formula SAE team at school and this card seems to be the best suited for our needs.

Just want to hear any gripes or issues anyone might have had with either the drivers, operations or installtion.

Application: 3D CAD, FEA, Fluid flow, gaming.

    Review away!...if any.

    Memory Size: 256MB
    Memory Interface: 256bit
    Graphics Memory Brandwidth: 42.2GB/sex
    Graphics Bus: PCI Express

      ah...CAD and gaming...I mean training....

We are using Solidworks 3D CAD for the full car assembly, and 3D rendering and refreshing is very important. We will also be running a bunch of FEA and fluid flow analysis.

The gaming: we need to train out drivers during the winter, and I hear games are excellent training tools, and fun too

haah damn sorry i dunno much about what it takes for those programs, but im sure you need alot more than 256, I would say 512 for starters, and probably some DDR3 ram to match

Did some more research. Where as GeForce supports DirectX 10 on which games are based,
the Quadro FX line is directed towards the OpenGL base on which all the 3D CAD programs and Simulation programs are built.

for my CAD application Quadro FX > GeForce

The Quadro FX is a $1000 card, so I am expecting a lot out of it.

The Quadro's are only for creating things, they suck at playing games

yeap. I have an old quadro600 I think and games are not that great on them, but 3D rendering and CAD is awesome.
