ya i want to but that car is lil tight. im 6'3" 215. and i finally had a chance to sit in it and it was lil uncomfortable. My knees would hit the door panel and steering wheel. I think thats a lil unsafe. Let alone spend so much on it being so tight.

That gen RL is a great car, it just isn't performance oriented in anyway. Very very nice cars though.

I think that RL is fairly boring. They were bland when they came out, and they didn't impress that many people. I've read magazine reviews about them... they basically said that it was a very nice car, well made, quiet, comfortable... and forgettable. The 2nd generation Legend was fantastic looking. Then it became the RL, and it was yawn-worthy until the latest model... which is quite pricey.

If you're looking for sporty, which it seems your S2000 goals suggested, the RL is NOT going to make you happy for long. The S2000 might be a bit small for you, but if you want a fun performance car, don't get a lullaby on wheels! The RL will take good care of you, and it'll look pretty sharp if you keep it clean... but IMO, for someone that was looking for an S2000, it's not a step in the right direction!

For around $10,000, you could probably find a Lexus GS or SC. Both of them are at least somewhat better in terms of performance, and you still get a nice luxury car (that is recognized and admired by more people than the RL). Or you could go German... BMW and Audi are known for performance, luxury, AND reliability (BMW especially)

did you say Audi and reliability in the same sentence???

Not Honda reliability... but I'd take Audi over Mercedes Benz!

BMW is definitely more reliable, though. I'd take a 3 series over any other German car on the market.

I agree, 3 series all the way for German engineered vehicles.

Per the topic, my friend has a 96 RL with over 210,000 miles on it and it still is a beautiful ride. I love the smooth power of an engine that big.......but it is a boat. Its the Japanese equivalent of a Crown Vic. Except better, obviously.

I say get a Legend instead. As good looking as a BMW, but better because its an Acura. For the money you'd save buying a Legend rather than an RL, you could do everything you need to in terms of maintenance and still do some nice aftermarket additions.

if u can get it down to 7000 or up to 7300, coz its a 99 w/ over 120k, and u have to do the egr problem. but these do last for a long time. 120k is nothing to this, if our honda can last up to atleast 200k, this will too. ive driven these kind of cars b4, very comfortable. oh do a carfax first, then rbing another mechanic or kno someone who is very picky in cars(they can find the imperfections better).
bmw's r nice but will run more on maintenance, plus rearwheeldrive. and an m3 will cost more than $8k if u want lower miles than 120k.
u live delaware right? do u get lot of snow? this rl is a good fwd, and drives like a mercedes.
if u get a lexus gs, those things r slower, but the gs400 is fast but will cost more. an es300 is a good bet though. just my opinion.

Look, the EGR valve is a 10 minute fix, but the problem probably lyes with a clogged EGR port on the back of the block. It's a pipe that goes from the block to the intake manifold. The thing is, its a simple fix if you do it yourself, but Acura charges a little over 3 hours to do. Took me 35 minutes the first time I did one.

The only other thing I'd be skeptical about is 3.5RL's tend to chew up lower ball joints, the rear rotors tend to warp and the 110k service is roughly a little over 1200 dollars at the dealer.

Other then that, they're great cars. Good luck with a decision.

Ya i want the s2000 but when i look at where im at in life it wont fit. I i get one im need a 2nd car, b/c of the weather. Im 22 my insurance is high plus i want to start investing and stuff like that. Having two cars i would be spending a grand a month which isnt in my budget right now. The RL fits nice i can get a payment for like $160 for 48months and have a clean car. Able to take trips and be a better business person. I'm just tired of the accords i get theu also start messing up after a year. I mean now i riding on 3 cyl just spent 250 on replacing a heater, replaced a starter battery and clutch. My back window trim is messing, so if i wash my car water gets in the truck. I think its time to treat myself to something a lil more better.
