sub-$10,000 dream cars

I was just thinking... everyone wants a Ferrari, NSX, Skyline, Supra, etc... All the expensive, exotic, high power, high status cars.

Now, there are quite a few cars that I would LOVE to have that cost under $10,000 in good condition these days. Some are about $3000! I just wanted to see if there are any fans of the "lower end" like me!


My list is:

Mitsubishi Starion - stock widebody, RWD turbo, BIG honkin 2.6L 4 cylinder (in the US. Other countries got the 2.0L 4G63, which is found in my next car... )


Galant VR-4 - CB7-ish in appearance. Just classy. Classic lines, clean looks, black leather interior (in all US models, I believe). And, the best part... AWD turbo! It's the Eclipse GSX's classy big brother.


VW Corrado - This is just a stunning car, IMO. I feel that it could easily be produced today and still fit in! The NA 4 cyl wasn't really potent, but handled the best. The Supercharged 4 cylinder had some reliability issues, and the VR6 supposedly handled like a pig... But man... such sharp looks!





I'm sure there are more. I'll probably add to this list. These are my top 3 though.

I've seen three of the VR4 Mirage.

One guy told me his owned his since it was brought brand new off the lot in 1991.

150k on the clock.

And the Starion/Conquest...dude I've seen three alone enough to make me want one in the not to distant future.

And the Corrado? I would never own one..well I would drive it but still when it came to doing the work..it's a p.i.t.a especially the horror story of having to remove the part of the front just to access the alternator..FUCK that.

Yessir. Late 60's/Early 70's MGB GT. You can drop in a Buick 215ci Aluminum V8 and have one helluva fun car. I used to have a 71 roadster than was worked over a bit. Wish I'd never sold that car....

You could build it like this. Think you'd probably bust the 10k mark tho....
