IMO harnesses will only protect your body. Nascar drivers had problems with whiplash up until the late nineties. Even though your torso is held in place, your head gets knocked around a fair amount. Maybe you should just tape a small pillow onto the wheel.

sad...but awesome. i wonder how long the trucker kept driving with the guy on there? someone was probably following him and saw the guy hangin and called the cops, what a phone call that would be.

my best friends dad was turning into a resteraunt...hill was a ways off to his right. He was in the turn lane...stopped...looked...no one coming...he goes to pull in...biker comes over the hill doing who knows how much over 100mph...my friends dad had JUST enough time to see somethings sliding on the ground out of the corner of his eye, the biker laid his bike down...my friends dad goes to accel (by this time he was in the middle of the road) but it's too late...SLAM...bike slides out the other end and out a ways.

He gets out to look for the guy...can't find him...he's stuck under the truck, probably wrapped around the driveshaft...but either way...the bike came out he didn't...dead on impact.

My buds dad is now being sued by the family cause it was somehow his fault...since he was in the lane. Now...if the guy was going the speed limit...I think it was either 45-55 he would have been able to slow down...and my buds dad could have sped out of the way...and no hit...but he had just enough time to THINK about punching it...not enough time to actually do it. And the guy was decelling...he HIT at 90+...God only knows how fast he was going before he locked it up and laid it down...THAT is damn fast...hope the family loses their case.

Bikers that ride like that on the street do get what's coming to them...it is sad...and I hate to see it...and i can't imagine doing that to my fiance...killing myself...but that's what it is...suicide...that risks others as well.

One less biker that will hit a minivan and kill innocent kids...sad...sad...

NEVER street race...and don't drive like a shit head...shit like this happens...just think what you do to your loved ones and the loved ones of those you hit. It's not just not worth it...it's stupid.

what? the family is sueing because of the riders addiciton to speed?

it's like sueing the drug dealer for a drug overdose...fucking dumb.

they are suing because by sheer technicality it was my bud's dad's fault...cause he pulled into the lane...stupid..like I said I hope they lose.

AND what OTHERS do. You never know when the semi you are passing is going to change lanes to pass someone infront of them and not see you coming along at 100+ on a tiny bike.

No matter how "experienced" the driver, speed GREATLY decreases your chances of survival should you be involved in any accident. The faster you are going the more likely you are to crash into one object (another vehicle, guard rails, median wall/grass) and then ricochet into another object.

Even the most experienced drivers on the roads have accidents when speed is added to the equation. So SPEED DOES KILL.

Semi-decent example: Look at the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was a VERY experienced RACE CAR driver, used to doing speeds of around if not more then 150 MPH in a controlled environment (Race Tracks). Yet he still crashed into a retaining wall, very similar to a concrete retaining wall on the highway, and died. He had all the safety equipment of a fully built Race Car, helmet, full race harness, roll cage, etc, and he still died.

Originally posted by Nascar News Article
Earnhardt lost control because Sterling Marlin's car disrupted the air flow across Earnhardt's rear spoiler -- a common problem that drivers must overcome at Daytona.

Earnhardt’s car spun off the track's steep banking, onto the flat apron, and then turned sharply up the track, toward the outside retaining wall, and into the path of the #36 Pontiac driven by Ken Schrader. Schrader ran into Earnhardt's car just behind the passenger door, causing both cars to run nose-first into the wall. Earnhardt's #3 hit at a critical angle at nearly 150 miles per hour. The left-rear wheel assembly broke off the car on impact. The hood pins severed and the hood flapped open, slamming against the windshield as the car slid slowly down the track.
All it takes is a sudden change in the direction of the air/wind and you can lose control in a split second, NO MATTER how experienced the driver. Speed just adds to the equation. The faster you are traveling the harder you will crash.

EXACTLY...car or bike...but a bike is much more dangerous.
