    bmw 91 5 series...maybe?

i am concidering on buying a bmw 5 series 91. its still runs great, new engine from germany and new tranny for 4500.

i forgot what exact model is this car but it has power everything and lavender blueish paint...needs a bit of work to clean but that i can do.

either than that its clean title and good body.

is there any good or bads about this car i should know about? anything you have heard etc? im concidering it.
oh and the engine inside the valve cover is brand spanking new! haha
    its a v6.

i forgot how many miles but the miles dont count with the new engine...
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Retro!

Sounds a little shady for being such little money. It's likely to be a dog 525 too..

        535 = Teh win!

www.dtmpower.net & www.bimmerforums.com are probably good resources to hit up.

There is no such thing as a v6 BMW.

                  No 89 545 either.

                  You might be thinking 535

In '96, my dad was debating on whether to get a '96 Accord SiR (This is in Indonesia btw, where cars come straight from Japan..) or a '94 BMW 520.......In the end, we ended up with the Accord....Apparently my dad test drove both of them, and the 520 was just too sluggish.....He did said that the one level up BMW (I'm guessing it's the 530) was pretty damn responsive..But he still didn't get it 'coz the Accord still handles better, and the maintenance for BMWs are super high.....But yeah we ended up having a near 300hp Accord for the next 3 years or so (in case you're wondering about the 300hp, we got Mugen parts there for dirt cheap, and installing labour was all free )
So yeah, my point is, anything above the 525 is okay I guess, if the price is right..I mean, you get the luxury that's for sure.. But I always thought that BMWs have inline 6, not V6??? Hmmm...
Well, good luck in making the decision..

Ummm it's a BMW, you can't go wrong. I had a '92 3 series before, and that kicked so much ass. It was the easiest thing to do doghnuts in.

And I believe that era of 5-series got horrible gas mileage, around 16mpg, and requiring premium fuel.

                          BMW: Big Money Well
                          BMW: Bavarian Manure Wagon

After dealing with an 89 525 ($3300 in 2002, sold $3000 in 2003) and a 93 318is ($8800 in 2001, sold $5300 in 2003), I have come to the conclusion that if you have the money and can afford the maintenance on them they're great, if you don't have a lot of money you'll be dragging yourself down trying to nit-pick and fix every little thing that goes wrong (things will go wrong, and they will cost a lot of money). Both were sold at a loss, including repairs made.

Sure they drive fine and you feel pimpin' driving one, but keep in mind the 5 series you're looking at is 14 years old and will probably see more driveway time than driving time.

Man I think those 91 M5 are tight as fuck! I used to work at a BMW dealership and I saw one come in that was so clean. It only had like 36K on it. It was black with the nice stock rims. It was for sale too. I think the guy wanted like 17 grand. This was back in 99.
