ive been thinking up of this crazy idea of converting it into a rally/offroad vehcile. ive been straying to the off road side aka rock crawling, pre-running and stuff like that but i really like the cb7.
our project car was gonna be for track but its only mildly modified.
we still have some stuff to strip on the interior and a 6 point cage is going into it. all the safety equpiment is still FIA approved and will be for scca as well.
Im just pondering about the suspension setup. For pre-runners they have Long arm suspension travel and they run IFS in the front and most likely the solid axle in the rear. I was thinking about a custom coilover system with a custom spring rate for rallying. if i need more ground clearance i can fab up some spacers that go in between the strut tower and chassis but then i will need to correct the camber.
i can cut half the bumper off, right below the turn signal lights and then fabricate a skid plate/brush guard and then a bull bar with the necessary lights.
one of my goals now is still keep it street legal. the motor in it right now is pretty good, f20A...basically a destroked f22 which will allow me to buzz higher than normal. Apexi WS1 for keeping sound down and probably an aftermarket ECU and computer management so it can be tuned for smog purposes.
and if i really have money, a rebuilt h22 which i will need to have bar'd and then smog'd but i dont think so because im still building the G23 hybrid.
i want to be able to run this thing from dirt to asphalt no problem and maybe just carry a first aid kit, safety and a set of tires in the back.
it really doesnt seem too far fetched because the vehcile is going to be headed in that direction anyways (of being stripped, cage'd and race prepped)
it will be funny seeing the thing being auto-xed
basically check out the civic in the honda tuning article online
