I wanted something else. I wanted power. I wanted something big, safe, and luxurious. I figured I'd deal with automatic if the car made lots of power...

I got a 2002 Grand Prix GTP. 3.8L Supercharged V6. 240hp. 280lb/ft. Just about as fast as my H22 CB7, with 700lbs more and an automatic. TCS, ABS, Leather interior, Bose sound system, heated seat, HUD, in-dash display for mpg, oil life, etc... 16" chrome wheels, dual exhaust. It's a nice car. It feels powerful as hell.

I parked the CB7 with damage to the #3 sparkplug threads. Parked it for 6 months. Drove the GTP everywhere. I put 33,000 miles on that damn Pontiac. Then I started the CB7 back up.

The CB7 has a tired H22, no LSD, a grinding transmission, bald tires, a bumpy suspension (though for what it is, it's damn smooth), a loud exhaust (I get followed regularly, now that the local cops aren't used to seeing the car), a REALLY crappy sound system, power windows that barely work, no AC, hot-or-not heat, no remote key (locked em in once already since putting it back on the road!) No power steering. It DOES get 30mpg though!

From my descriptions above, you'd think I prefer the GTP over the CB7, right? Wrong. The GTP is a turd. It's my beater, or the car that I take on dates (because girls don't appreciate the CB7... but if I find one that does... score! ) I'm SO glad I didn't sell the CB7 for the GTP. I'm paying to insure 2 cars, but it's worth it. (and it'll be 3 cars when I get my hatchback on the road!)

      well stated.

lol, my girlfriend dosen't appreciate my cb7.. lol. when i told her i was looking to get a new FIT, she was pretty excited, lol... but then i got a h22.. but i love my car so much, i know she appreciates that i do take care of the car(keeping it looking at nice and clean, at least), and she is used to the cb7 passenger seat, cus when i rent cars she always tells me the seats are uncomfortable, and how she likes the accord better..

The CB7 seats are SO much more comfortable than the GTP seats!

A CB like cp[mike]'s would be PERFECT... but very few people ahve that kind of dedication + $$$$ to spend.

I miss the CB every now and then but in the long run I'm glad I'm out of the game. Outside of my axles (which are not clicking) and a loose exhaust hanger, knock on wood I can't think of anything wrong w/my car, and that's very reassuring considering I have to drive it to work every day. Yes, the suspension design blows, and the top end doesn't compare in any shape or form to the H, or even my H23 IM'd A6... but it's roomy, quiet, comfy and fast. And it has good aftermarket support.

CBs are definitely great cars, but I think now we are getting to the point where the only people who can really have them are true, dedicated CB enthusaists who can deal with the ills of a 14 year old car. Newer cars are safer, get better gas mileage, etc... my insurance went down when I got the Max, and it's way faster than a stock CB...

So yea... think it through, consider what your financial situation is and make the decision you feel is best. Don't feel pressured by others to keep it; they don't have to deal with your problems with it if/when they come up.

Mods usually make a car worth less... I wouldn't want someone else's project. Hell, I HAVE someone else's project... and I have to replace the motor already (granted, that wasn't the fault of that someone else, but the other things that caused it to sit as long as it did, destroying the motor, WERE that person's fault)
