"President Bush has declared a state of emergency for southern California, including San Diego county." He apparently is sending FEMA, and If I remember the Catrina situation any, we're all screwed....? 
Im not sure if this is covered nationwide, so I'll give a quick spiel. There are three tremendously huge fires, Rice, Harris and Witch Creek, going on. and in SD, has burned more than 300,000 acres. Remarkably, there are a number of injuries, and only one death...
The fires started in Malibu, and have now reached the San Diego/Mexico Border
People in the literal line of fire, are taking refuge at various high schools and at Qualcomm Stadium.
The people of San Diego are truly doing an outstanding job, helping one another through the ordeal, with nearly double the number of volunteers than the number of actual refugees. This is how a town is supposed to act...
Not only the volunteers, but the bravery of the fire fighters as well, who are working hard, risking their own lives, trying their best to save lives and the homes of families.

The Harris Fire is practically next to my house. It is next to the 125(54) freeway, which is right next to my house, so we're going to start packing, and anticipate the reverse 911 call to evacuate.
