The C+A+D worked when I tried to boot in safe mode. The 0 key worked on the laptop, but not other numbers. The number keys on the USB keyboard worked. I'm in

Ok, opened up a text file. All the USB keys seem to work fine. The laptop keyboard has random working keys.

sounds like a hardware issue. did you reinstall correctly? double check. now for the password protect screen, are you talking about the OS or the bios?

        The password protect is OS.

I didn't reinstall anything, though maybe that's a way to fix things...

Aside from the keyboard, and possibly the ethernet port, everything seems to be in working order. I'm on it now. This keyboard kinda sucks though! What can i expect for $10 though!

Yea sounds like you might need to reinstall the drivers possibly.

Or wipe it out and reinstall the OS thats on it, or the OS of your choice.

That cheapo usb keyboard....is it one of the foldable thin plastic ones??

            If so thats badass lol.

Yeah, little rubber thing. Got it for under $10 shipped For the price, it's great. For a primary keyboard... kinda sucks.

Yeah, I've seen those. Not for $10 though!

Now I just need to figure out if it's the keyboard or something else that's causing the problem. Might be drivers... but I don't see how a martini would mess up the drivers!

Well it might not have been the martini....

i forgot who you said you got it from....but it might have been messed up already and the martini was the last straw lol.

I dunno pcs are weird...i would wipe out xp and reinstall and see if that fixes anything....that is unless you dont wanna lose the info on the hd and your cappable of it with your keyboard setup lol

OMFG i just remembered when i reinstalled xp the last time my f8 button didnt work....enter worked and so did the arrows but not f8 and to agree to microsofts agreement you need f8 lol.

Well all i did was switch from a USB keyboard to a ps2 one and it worked like a charm.

Damn i had the ps2 one but i left it in ga because i didnt need it...id have shipped it to you free if i still had it.

I got it from my mom. As far as I know, it worked fine. I DID have to put Win2k on there because she managed to screw up the XP that came with it...

The martini was definitely when it stopped working, though.
