My last good one blew up recently so I pieced together one from leftovers. I'm waiting until the quadcore AMD's are out before building another beast.

    currently (from leftovers)
    AMD Athlon64 X2 3000+ (running at 2.18ghz stable)
    Asus K8V deluxe board
    1GB DDR-433 w/heatsinks
EP 2GB flash drive used for swap and temp files
80 GB WD IDE drive w/ dual boot XP & Linux (hope to add Tiger OSX soon too)
60 GB WD IDE for work drive
two 120 GB Seagate SATA drvies in raid - storage
two 80GB 10k RPM Raptures in IDE raid - storage for large/commonly used files
    HP DVD-RW
    HP CD-RW
    Linksys wifi card
    GeForce 6200 video
    Video/audio capture card w/DVR
    onboard audio/lan
    500w pwr supply
    7 case fans
    crap keyboard/mouse/monitor
    audio running through home stereo

for the next 1-2 weeks my computer will be accessible.

You can d/l whatever you want but please don't go overboard with my bandwidth or you will be automatically logged off. You can connect as long as my PC is up and running.

That's not a bad setup. I've also been staring at the new quad core's. I'd like to build a system around the new phenom's when they come out.

Haha same here. Damn things gonna kick some ass. Especially if I get 8800GTX's.

Although, after that I should probably let the computer be. Just so I can put it into my car.

mhm... 1. I've not used ubuntu server yet. Windows 2k3 is quite good tho. I'm also a BETA tester for server 2k8. Will get that going soonish.
I do believe FedoraCore > ubuntu. Afterall, ubuntu is only an easier GUI linux.
win2k3enterprise supports up to 32GB of ram. Also, in some cases, you get what you pay for. I dont think anyone is using Ubuntu server edition yet... Though as i said, I've not used it so I cant compare it yet.
