For a BMW in that condition for $4000... hell, I paid $11,000 for my GTP of the same year!

Tell him to give you HIS address, and a time to meet you. Say you'll fly wherever he wants and pay him cash, in full, for the car.

It's sad that someone will probably fall for this. Most likely a senior citizen or something.

I messed with one of those guys by saying I was going to be in their country of origin the following week...........I typically get some b/s reply like "oh, i'm going to be gone next week on business..."

ok.. did some research.. here is a link to the Ebay Vehicle Protection plan

                http://pages.ebay.com/motors/services/assurance.html

also i did a carfax report on this too.. this is almost too good to be true !! so far everything has checked out as described !! do your own carfax and see for yourself.

i think he just needs to get rid of the vehicle quick or something. go for the deal !!

I'm really not convinced this is an actual scam. Especially since he wants you to use that eBay thing.

well.. if you can send a fake account number or check to ebay or at least make sure there are funds and see what happens. if it is a scam then he will get scammed again.. because if i read right he sends you the car and until you give the ok he don't get the money.

or try this.. see if you can't get ebay to look into this sale and see what they say or if they offer any better advice.

i say find out where he's from/place to meet and that u'll fly to where ever he's at then drive it back because ur company will expense it or something. .. Tell him u work for a Custom car shop and they are looking for a car like this to customize and show, so they need u to fly out and check out the car personally.
