My cousin has a salt water tank, its like 20 gal. i dont think it was a reefer, but i dont know the difference. and x2 on the colours. His tank was amazing.
He also said its a huge money pit to maintain, and eventually he stopped maintaining it, and it run itsself for a while. But now he only has like 2 fish left...lol

Maintaining it? .40 cents per gallon of water for water changes and moving your arm up and down the glass with a scrubber? lol your cousin sounds like a pussy.

20g tank-$20 (petco is having a sale starting tom. $1 per gal. of tank lol)
25lbs live rock-$110
10 lbs live sand-$40
50w ebo jager heater-$20
aquarium systems mini jet powerhead- ~$25
hydrometer-$10
lights? undecided still...- ~$75 ish
salt mix dont know what kind yet

still dont know what kind of fish i want yet but we have a really good pet store locally with a great selection of salt water fish

I've been in it for almost 10 plus years, but sold most of my things. Man I just soaked up all that information with passion though. It came natural and I'm sure most people who have that knack will know.

It does require time, money, patience.

reefcentral.com is a very informative place.

If I could do it again, I suggest WATER being the most crucial aspect. A well invested RO/DI is critical.

Live sand isnt nessisary, the live rock will seed it. The mini power head wont be enough, id get a maxi jet 600. salt mix? instant ocean.

just got a 20 long

contemplated between the 20 high and the 20 longs but decided for the long cause my two 5g's are high...i think the long will look better.
