well, as alot of you know, im having back surgery to correct my scoliosis.

my spine is curved in 2 places, both 50 degrees.

my correction surgery is next tuesday.

    and im scared as fuck.

but its gonna happen, so im running fullspeed and puttin my shoulder in it.

after tuesday i wont post for a few days (not many will miss me lol) but when im able ill get on and let you all know how it went.

untill then, keep me in your prayers, thoughts, whatever you can that you think might help me. im 16 and this is just kinda a big thing in my life you know?

            for life.

            they never come out lol.

this sucks. it means i can no longer bend my back at all really. they say i should have *some* motion in my spine, depending on how many vertabrate are fused.

well theyre fusing all but 2, the very top 1, adn the very bottom 1. so i really dont see how i can retain any of that motion at all...

            fucking sucks.

Not to freak ya out, but have they said whether or not anything can go wrong or is it just a matter of whether or not itll fix you?

                  Forever.

One of my best friends had the same surgery when she was about your age. She had a 45 degree and a 50. The recovery was hell but she made it through. Now she's lifeguarding and managing the university pool, something she really never throught she could do. Im sure you'll do the same. Good luck.

thanks guys it really does help knowing people care.

ive really felt very alone thru all this. i mean, its just really hard to talk about something that is always bothering you. i did talk to one member on here that i wont name in case they dont want mention, and that helped soooooo much getting some straight answers. with doctors its always, "in most cases" or "well, that can be affected by" and never just "yes" or "no" or "for me, _______"

                      yeah, alot can go wrong.

                      1) could correct too much. see, my spine is so bent up now, that if they straighten it 100%, it would strech my spinal cord and paralyze me

                      2) could die due to complications during surgery

                      3) could die due to reaction to anesthesia (sp?)

                      4) could end up bending the metal rods (VERY rare but theres nothing normal about this so far. Scoliosis is very uncommon in boys, and double curves are very uncommon period. well, im a guy with a double curve...)

                        this your first surgery operation?

i've had a section of my large intestine removed when i was two and then a hernia repair when i was 22 i think... can't remember.

I also had a needle stuck in one of my kidnies so that they could do a biopsy.

it will hurt for a little bit but then the pain killers kick in and you're all feeling good inside.

well theres a lady i work with who had this operation done too not too long ago, if theres anything you want me to ask her maybe some advice or anything....

they advise you to write a will and living will for incase something should happen.

do you know how depressing that is when your a kid???

i just sit down alone and have to think, "if I die during this, who do i want to have my ______?"

then its like "should i just leave it all to my parents? or would that upset them even more having to see there dead sons possessions every day, reminding them that im gone?"

or "should i just give it all away to other people? or would that be upsetting to them that i didnt leave them anything? would that make them think i didnt love them?"

i just feel like time is running out.
everyone wants to see me "one last time" or hang out "one last time"

i dunno its just been a lonely, depressing couple weeks, but its getting close now.
