    general car question

    since i wrecked my accord, i pimp my moms villager now. i got a sub and a 4 channel with some compents, deck, and satalite radio.

    when i drive past 65 or more ( it varies either 70 or sometimes 65) i get vibrations. now you are probably saying its tire balancing, but wouldnt i feel the vibrations at certain speeds all the time?

    my axles have been shot for a few years, about 6 years. the outer boot was torn and i never did fix it, and im wondering if thats whats happening. i feel very little vibration in the steering wheel but alot in the seat but i know how a tire that is off balanced, but this doesnt seem the same, it seems to ossilate randomly or something.

    do you guys think its the axles since i never did fix em for 6 years? if i were to make a slight turn like veering to the right or left i can hear the axle humm like hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm everytime i apply lateral pressure while slightly turning....

    i know in our hondas when the axle cv boot is bad then u hear clicking but i havent heard that in the van yet.

    sorrie for the long essay....but i want to be as descriptive as possible.

    today it just felt really bad more than other days.

    You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Slight imbalances would be accentuated at higher speeds, wouldn't they? If you could get a really good balance done by someone, you could at least rule it out if it doesn't fix it.

    It'd be cheaper than new axles I imagine, too.

      im pretty sure it would need are-balancing of the tires.

      this happened on my dad's lexus at 65 and solely at that speed. we put new tires and re-balanced and it fixed the problem. no suspension components were changed or even checked for that matter.

        oddly mine varies from speeds, sometimes it does do it at 65 sometimes it doesnt, and at times it only does it when higher.

          lifted the front end up and checked for play already? done a tire rotation?

            My DX was a terror on the highway because of the wheel balance. At lower speeds, it wasn't noticeable. At very high speeds, it seemed a little better. It could still be balance.

            Regardless, change those damn axles! That could be contributing as well. Even if it's not the axle, and it is wheel balance... you don't need shaky wheels causing your dry axles to fall apart at highway speeds!
