Nvidia 7900gs will do you just fine in the video card area. I personaly think you should wait up a bit if you can.Intel just came out with there core 2 duo and its all good. They came up with the technology 1st so good for them. Now AMD has been experimenting with their processor and I bet you they some brand new crazy processorin testing right now.Its only a matter of time before AMD release their new line of processors, and put Intel back in their place.

      sli cant do dual monitor.
      a single card could though.
SLI is for double the video power.
i use to have it with my 7800gts but dont think it ever helped.

see the two DVI-outputs? that means you can run two LCD monitors.

or, persay, two VGA-outputs, means you can use two CRT monitors.
      (vga is blue)

OR, if (like pictured above) there's a DVI output, aswell as a VGA output, you could use one of these (pictured right) to convert the cable going from your monitor to the video card from one to another. now, the S-Video cable (pictured left) is what would connect your computer to your TV.

which the S-Video port, is on the very left of this Dual-dvi card.

if you got any more questions man, just post em' up.

I love AMD. I can vouch for them any day and solid and ready to OC.

I used to use AMD, but when the C2D came out it was no contest. More power for less money. To choose amd would have been simply out of brand loyalty, and staunch zealotry.

However if you don't want to spend the money for the C2D, I would def recommend AMD over its pentium rival.

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

I completely agree. The C2D had the definite advantage in every sense. It was newer, faster, better technology at a good price. Intel were finally able to compete with AMD from a price/performance standpoint.

I can't wait for true AMD qaud core microprocessors. Their current Quad FX platform (using two dual core 64FX processors), is a step in the right direction.

No offense but quad core is a piece of shit Your operating system would have to be quad core aplicable, if the os doesnt recognise the quad core it wont work

                  You can't be serious.

An OS like Windows XP was released long before multi core processors ever became available to the public.

Dual core intel and amd processors have no trouble running XP. How different could it be for quad core processors?

ive had the core 2 duo and the AMD 4200X2
core 2 duo is definitely much more cooler to run but price wise is okay.
                    Amd wins in price match

Im not to sure if the OS has something to do with it.But say you wanted to play FEAR, and you bought a quad core processor or even dual core. The game would not be any faster than it would on a single core. Why? Because the game only uses 1 core to work. Now there are a few games coming out very soon that will utalize 2 cores. The only one I know of is Unreal Tornement 2007.

Quad core IS the "crazy procssorin" that AMD is working on now for release later this year. And the article link you posted listed high-end games as one of the few things that really benefit from dual- and quad-core processors. The main point of that article was that the regular software most people use on a day-to-day basis (web browser, e-mail client, etc.) isn't going to see mutch benefit, if any, from multi-core processors.

as far as video cards go... if it has a vga and dvi, does that mean its meant for dual monitors, or will it just show the same image on both outputs? right now, the card im using is a dual vga, so im able to drag videos over to the tv(2nd monitor) and still use my computer. which is exactly what im looking for.

i was searching around, i found a benchmark review comparing the c2d e6600 and the 64x2 5000+, both being 2.4ghz processors. and in every single catagory intel swept amd. so according to their tests, if accurate, its obvious the c2d wins. my only question is that, for the price of that specific core2, i can get a 3ghz 64x2, which is what this whole thread is about... would i still be better off with the lower rated core2? around $200 is all i want to spend, so going higher with intel is not an option. i was even considering saving $50 and getting the 5600+ which would only drop to a 2.8ghz.

mobo prices are the same either way, so that doesnt matter. as soon as i can decide on a cpu, putting the rest of the system together will be cake.

Core 2 Duo IS the BEST CPU out there right now. you will not be dissapointed with it. I know I'm not

As much as it pains me to say this, if you need the system right now instead of waiting till later this year when AMD comes out with its new chips, buy the Intel. Right now all Intel Core Duo chips test faster than an AMD chip at the same price, and the current AMD architecture is at the end of its life-cycle. The Core-Duo is near the beginning, so in a year's time you should be able to buy a newer Intel Core Duo and upgrade just buying the chip, whereas you'd have to buy another newmotherboard and chip if you go with the AMD and want to upgrade next year.

very good point. thats part of the reason im building new again. the board i have maxed out at an athlon xp 2700. still very old by comparison of todays technology... but if i was able to pop in a 3ghz cpu into my board, i would.

i wouldnt want to make the same mistake by building a whole new system, throw in a 6000+ and be topped out already. guess ill have to decide sometime, or ill never get a new computer.
