I guess I'm the radical here... I voted yes. Because as a citizen, I back my country and my countries decisions. I just spoke with two guys on a two weeks leave from Iraq. I back them in what they are doing and a lot of guys believe in what they are doing and that’s word.
I’m sure our governments had ties with several now known enemies. After all, I’ve dealt with friends who over time became my enemies, haven’t you? We’re all here venting about things on a level we have no idea about. We live in our world set by their rules. But we have the freedom to make our own choices and support or not supporting is one of them.
Our country was founded on blood, sweat and war. War has been around since before our time. The Gods had wars amongst themselves, so it’s inevitable. It’s human nature to HATE and we all do it so well. We’re nothing more than animals who can reason. It’s instinct for people to hate, just like it’s instinct for a dog to hate a cat. Time has healed lots of those inherited traits, you see dogs playing with cats and etc.
We all as a humans must realize that there is something better. There’s more than oil, cash, sex, fancy cars, power.. all that. We’ve all succumbed to the world that we think is right. What we believe we need to survive and how we must do so, see how deep the rabit hole goes if you want.. I took the red pill long ago my friends.
I only believe that at least a portion of our government is alive and believes in what’s good. Those decision makers are planning for the future and doing what they think at this time is right. You know, ever made a decision on something only to realize it wasn’t the best thing to do?? Sure, me buying my camber kit a day early and not Later searching CB7 thoroughly. Granted that’s no big deal, but decisions are made on ever level with the same consequences.
Hope you guys enjoyed!

I guess I'm kinda a loner in my opinion too...
I see all the whiny tree hugging liberal types drinking their starbucks coffee and driving around in their gas guzzling SUVs saying that we never should have gone over there... all from the safety of their little pre-planned, pre-packaged suburban subdivision housing...
But the truth is that Saddam was a truly evil guy... he did horrible, unthinkable things to his own people... things that approach the same level with Hitler...as have alot of the guys still running 3rd world countries... Even though a portion of Iraqi's are fighting us every step of the way guerilla style and chanting Die America!... it's what we did that gave them the freedom to do that in the first place... freedom is one hell of an unpredictable beast...
The War in Iraq might have been motivated by other things and everyone might be against it...but we did a truly good thing by helping to free those people...at great personal cost... I see the nobility of it...I might be alone...
Why not ask the soldiers what their opinions are? That's the real bottom line in this... I bet alot of them would rather go home but they are doing what they have to do...and that's beyond commendable...they are the ones that allow all of the protesters and anti-war people here to express their opinions in the first place...
Although on a side note I have read some serious, in depth studies on it... and some of the conclusions about the motivations are that there are a shitload of really pissed off freelance terrorists out there with alot of money and bad mojo... and rather than have them try and hit the mainland US again...because they couldn't stop all of them, some would slip through... they tried to kill 2 birds with one stone by subtley presenting a closer more vulnerable target in our troops over there and taking out a terroristic regime at the same time...thereby focusing them away from the US until they could increase security...there is also speculation that what's happening in Iraq pales in comparison to some of the things happening in Afghanistan and that's the point... they want to do what needs to be done away from prying eyes...
I have also had conversations with a friend who has a close relative who works in Naval Intelligence and according to him...the full information behind why we chose to invade Iraq has not and will not be disclosed for security reasons... but if it was it would justify everything without doubt...but the administration are taking the heat and criticism rather than endanger their "assets"... that's all they really can do...RIP Lifsatrip7

and another thing...
Yes the beheadings are fucking awful and disturbing and shouldn't happen... bu that's part of the reason why we can't just pull out and go home...
Do you really want these people roaming around the world with nothing to do...sooner or later they will try and hit us again...
You cannot negotiate with terrorists... because every jackass with a black mask, a video camera and an AK 47 will get a light bulb over their head if we gave into their demands...and it would never end... the only real option is to be heavy handed with the military and trample everyone's rights looking for the hostage and the guys who did it... but then the same whiny people would use that against Bush...even if they saved the hostage's life...
and if we just pull out like Kerry says he will do if he wins... there will be an enourmous power vaccuum that will be filled by the fanatics willing to fight and kill each other for it... and once they gain power they will use whatever resources to strike us...
It's not just some hick Iraqi's that are creating the IED's and car bombs and killing people everyday... some of these guys are professional terrorists from around the world and there is a definite strategy behind all of the insurgence... it's very well organized... they are trying to use our defeats against us. like VietNam for example... very similar tactics are being employed against us...and not by coincidence...Last edited by ZigenBallZ; 06-26-2004, 12:30 AM.RIP Lifsatrip7

I agree that we can't pull out now... We're in it, and we need to finish it. However, I think that we never should have gotten into it in the first place. There are a million reasons why we can be justified and/or criminalized for doing what we did, and it's pretty much one's opinion whether we are right or not.
YES, we did help Iraq gain their "freedom" (whatever that is... we're using an American definition, so that's assuming they hold the same thought). Saddam WAS a horrible man, so it's good that he was dethroned. However, were we right to do it? Is it our job to stop horrible things from happening to far-away people while there are areas of our own country that are falling apart?
If "we" had a good reason for invading Iraq, other than to "hunt for terrorists", "destroy threatening nuclear weapons", or "free the oppressed people"... I believe WE (as in the real we) should be filled in! YES, we chose these people to represent us (the same we that is undereducated, financially motivated, or misinformed and swayed by politics...) and they made these decisions. The full details should be available for anyone who wants them... I guarantee 99% of the soldiers over there don't even know enough of the details to be able to have a good opinion. They are told what to believe, and they believe it. If I was putting my life (or freedom, if I refused) on the line, I would believe I was doing the right thing too!
Also, we're fighting Muslim and Islamic terrorists from various nations. We are NOT fighting any set nation. No country with uniforms to distinguish. No "rules of war" to follow. These people can employ any tactics and not be held accountable after the "war". Either they win, or they ALL die. We have a hell of a fight on our hands if we ever focus on the actual enemy! The Islamic population (seeing as it's a religion, not a nationality) is spread throughout the world. These enemies can come from anywhere... And most of the Islamic people are NOT enemies! Call me crazy but like I had said before I saw the video of that Korean guy pleading for his life.
I swear to it man I almost cried for this guy because it couldve been anyone I knew.
I kept envisioning it people I care about my friends even my gf.
It bothered me so much that I held my gf close looked into her eyes and told her I wouldnt know what I would do without her...I told her about the video and said you know that couldve been anyone..I knew. It is human nature to hate, its what was put into our minds with fight for things we believe in whether it would be territory, religion whatever we can think off we start a war over.
I agree Saddam is bad man. I remember in 1990 I was 6 and CNN was playing footage of the first Desert Storm. I remember my grandmother and relatives talking about the war. Me being a little kid at the time I was scared the war would come to where I was ( in Palau located in the South Pacific). Lo and behold 13 years later we did it again...and this time we took him out on Christmas Day but since then everything has gotten worse. No matter how much you can try every time you run from it its always gonna be where ever you are...like a plague that wont go away..
I guess with times like these you gotta embrace life you know. Yeah things happen and theres nothing we can do about it.
They say this is the land of the free but slowly but surely the older generation are passing laws that will affect us ( the younger gen x's) so far some dude in Louisana passed a law banning girls from wearing skirts. Sadly it passed, in a way I feel the U.S is getting a little more strict.Henry R
