Uhm, what difference does it make if an old car or a new car has plenty of after market support? Basically removes it from the question at hand if both cars have similar support.

because i like tuning cars. so if im looking for a new car, why would i get a car with little or no aftermarket support when i can get an older car with tons?
it makes sense. trust me."This truck is 100% sh*ts and giggles."

You're not JDM until you have a car built in ohio with tons of bolt ons from ebay.

I would never leave this forum. It's probably one of the best on the net for cars. Even though I bought an Audi, I'm pretty sure some of you guys know some stuff about them heh. But yeah, the first mod I'm getting is programming the ECU. People at audiforums all claim the jump is from 170 to 215hp, which is alot. But I've seen Dyno's so it gets me excited! hehe. It's about $500 to reprogram. After that maybe HID's and new speakers. We'll see.

audi's are nice. that i what i am shooting to buy if indeed i buy a new car. but that price is very high. a 2004 with 51k miles in it might cost arund 14k or around that neighborhood.
and i never understood how can you get so much hp out of the car without doing any engine/turbo work but you can reach it just by reprograming the ecu.
guys that own vw gtr etc they claim the same thing.are we there yet are we there yet are we there yet

well we researched the price alot. The retail price for the car with this amount of miles is 21,500 I believe. The trade in was 18,000 and the private sell was 19,000. Considering its a certified preowned car, which with audi is basically getting a brand new car with just the milage on it. It comes with brand new breaks and brand new tires. and a two year, 100,000 mile warranty that basically covers everything in the car unless it was user error. heh. I'm happy
I forgot to add.. I got it for 20,000 hehLast edited by 93Akkord; 06-26-2007, 10:20 AM.

They're not tuned to the max to increase longevity and to not encroach on sales of other models with larger engines. Think of the H22. The factory tune is pretty rich up top to provide protection against crappy gas a such. Leaning it out yeilds more power. Turbo engines are typically tuned "safe" as well, regardless of the brand.
Think of it this way. Why pay thousands more for a A4 with a 250 horse V6 if the turbo 4 version has 230 hp? Its better marketing with a larger power increase.
And turbomaxx: Are you unable to read? I'm trying to say that if you have a new car with good after market support then your reasoning for keeping an older car because of after market support doesn't make sense. For the sake of argument assume both cars have EQUAL after market support.Last edited by NutBucket; 06-26-2007, 11:27 AM.

there is a couple cars that I've heard and just reprogramming the ecu can yield alot more HP but remember doing do reduces the longevity of the motor and its parts. All ecu on stock are not programmed to unleash the full beast(unless its some type of super sports car) to make sure the motor/parts last the full warranty period. I hope remap the ecu wont void your warranty because i personally know that whenever you take a audi to the dealer they hook it up to a computer 1st thing for system diagnostics.1993 Accord LX - Sold

If your baller enough I recommend looking into some parts by APR since they specialize in audi. They have a couple bad ass S4's might wanna give that a look see. I wouldnt mind an audi its a vw but its pretty nice for what it is. Id get an S4 though the older one not the new one with the v8. The one with teh biturbo v6 =D.
