As mentioned, Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons", as well as his "Digital Fortress"(<--not as good as A & D but still good).

If you're up for fiction I'm not gonna lie, any of the Harry Potter books are pretty good, better than the movies. LOTR=too many elf songs, although you can skip those parts.

-Of Mice and Men
-Grapes of Wrath
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-Anything by Stephen King(be prepared to do a lot of reading..ie The Stand is about 1xxx pages
-Anything by John Grisham(sp?)

go straight to the library, walk up to the desk and say "where are the Gary Paulsen books" doenst matter which you read, they all pwn
