lol....thats how the schools make their profit man....buy low, sell high....that's why its always best to just find people that will be taking the class next semester/quarter and sell it to them for like 50%-75%....they still get it cheaper and you get more money back

i noticed that selling at 3-4 weeks after the semester starts is the best because people start getting desperate

but i want the money now, not 4 months later

            half.com

That's where I got rid of the ones I didn't want. Also only bought books after I knew I'd need them. Many times the "required" books weren't of much use at all.

yeah I have the same problem, I have 3 books to sell and the college isn't buying back any of them. And I don't want to wait 4-5 months selling them online, plus I don't have a bank account so can't sign up there. (money under the mattress ftw.) so now I need to drive around and find a book store near the colleges that deals in used textbooks and see what I can get there.

yup, amazon or half.com are your best bet as far as getting your money back.

My gf sold hers on half.com and got about 80% back from what she originally paid.

You can also make flyers and post it all over your dorm to see if anyone needs the books. Or save them, you might need them later

If the college is not buying them back most likely they have a new version out. So have fun trying to sell those.

that, or no one is offering the class or just there's not enough demand for that book.

That is true, but that doesnt mean that other schools won't be using the old edition. I know in my school it's up to the professor whether or not they want a edition of the textbook they are using. As far as selling them goes i have sold mines on ebay and one on half.com, for the most part i either broke even or made more than what i paid for. I mean put them up right before the semester started but thats the best time to do it in order to make the most money back.

well for me, i bought an accounting book for $140, ended up dropping the classs half-way through the semester and tried to sell it back, they ended up updating the book so that book is useless. and i couldn't sell it back.

I have all my answer guides on half.com at the moment.

For some reason I can't part with any of my engineering books though. I still have the math books from freshman year.

                              Oh well.
