its like saying getting a 5 gen is upgrading. mechanically they might work better because they're newer, but its whatever he wants to keep as a project.

not trying to start any drama but the 5th gen accord is a better car overall compared to the cb7, and they are just as reliable. parts are harder to find for older cars, but if you want it for a beater or something like that then go for it.

I agree, although I believe deev said that the f22b isn't as reliable as the f22a

thats a crazy reason to base your choice of vehicle on lol.

anyways, don't get it. Your F22 is better than the A20 (or whatever it is in the LX-i, i used to have one)

It IS fun to drive, like a go-kart, but IMO the cb7 wins.

How is the CD better overall? The parts that matter as far as performance and comfort are easily swapped out so, aside form styling, theyre really not much different than the 4th gens. I personally think theyre worse than CBs, just because of the weight issue. The newer a car is, the more it weighs..

If you want the car, get it.

check 3geez.com for the 3rd gen accord. They got some really nice ones, although I perfer a cb over them. I like the 3rd gens cuz they remind me of the 86 corolla sr5.

The 3rd gen is probably tied with the 6th gen for my second favorite model... It is by far the best Accord hatchback ever.

The A20A is a very potent motor, and the 3G weighs as much as a newer Civic (about 2500) The suspension is quite good, possibly superior to the CB7. The interiors are decent, and I found an 18 hour ride in one to be quite comfortable. The block is made of iron, so it's very strong... good for boost!

The 3G looks a bit more "dated" than the CB7, and it has a much weaker aftermarket. Those points aside, it's a very good car. The LX-i models had 120hp, I believe. Not too far off of the F22A1's 125hp... for a 2.0L engine, that's decent! Not to mention the fact that the car weighs less...

Swaps are an issue, compared to the CB7. The B series goes in with custom mounts... Place Racing used to make them, but they folded. I heard someone on 3geez was working on producing some, but I don't know if that has happened yet. An H or F series swap would be a hassle, and all the JDM A series upgrades are hard to come by.

OBD0 (or pre-OBD) makes things a little tricky as well. I believe converting to OBD1 is the route many people take for ECU tuning... or you could just go carb'd like Bisi

The 3rd generation Accord is a great car. If the car is in good shape, it's worth considering. Automatic is no fun though!

As for the 5th gen being better than the CB7, I disagree. It's very much the same car in many aspects. The F22B1/2 engines aren't the best (not unreliable... but the F22A engines are just better...) They look like overgrown Civics, and the interior always felt more "plasticky" than the CB7. IMO, the decline of quality in the Accords started with the 5th gen. The CB7 was the pinnacle of Accord engineering. That is strictly opinion, mind you.

i agree with u deeve, even tho the 5th gens are a "newer car" with newer technology it is not as good as the cb7, the body just feels more "cheap" but the chassis is the same as ours. however the 3rd gens are pretty good cars when lowered and RUST free. but whats everyone's opionions about the 6th gens? i have friend who wants to sell me her car. it is 4 door with a 5 speed lx, with around 135,000 and serviced regulary. but i dunno had not much experience to it comapred to the cb,

The 6th gen interior isn't quite as comfy or well laid out as the CB7, but it's nice. I would take a 6th gen over a 5th anyday! The F23 is a slightly better motor than the F22B1, even though the heads are nearly identical (not a great design). The 6th gen coupe is a beautiful car. To me, the 6th gen coupe and the 3rd gen hatch are two of the best looking Accords ever... definitely the sportiest looking.
