Oh yea other than the 6.7L diesels or was it the 6.5L maybe it was the 6.0 I forgot that shit would shoot flames out the exhaust. It was one of those motors I forgot which one. I think it was the 6.0L.
Yeah man your lucky . The oil pans tend to rust out after a long time and my truck is only 12 years old which isn't bad but I looked at it today to see if theres any other easy way around it and no theres none.

Uh where do you see a failure? Truck still runs fine, there wasn't any failure it's just replacing the one part of the engine makes it so much more fustrating because of the engine removal.
Other than this defect this truck has no major problems of course it gets abused thats what a truck is made for but other than that I take care of it.
But heres a bit of an update, I emailed the person interested in the truck about 10 pictures I took last night, says he wants to meet up so he could take a look at it in person either early Saturday or maybe even Sunday.
In the meantime I took my truck to another local garage, and I got a quote of $799.50 which ISN'T bad but even though it's a bit much its a far cry from $1,201.49 bill I saw.
If this guy doesn't budge and buy it, I'll will probably have to bite the bullet and have it fixed...I could always use it as a trade in.
Man and to think I had ideas for a custom subwoofer box for it, oh well I guess it'll have to wait.
Sell the truck and get a CB. CDs have crap engines, IMO. Civics are... well... Civics But I just don't like them
Deev I like my 4th Gens but I really like the 5th gen more I like the angular styling its got going for it.
Hell if I could find a really sleek clean 4th gen Id be all over it SO LONG AS ITS NOT AN AUTO, I found an older couple selling a car that they originally bought while they lived in New Mexico but I had to pass.
Its white (I hate white cars) and its an auto (I have an auto, and while its good for city traffic, I miss driving a stick shift).
Civic isn't that bad Deev I actually like my gfs car ALOT which is why when shes at work on somedays I'll drive over and take it for awhile lol. She only works 2 miles away from home lol.
Oh and Scott I found a really really clean EX in Mesa, that thing is a work of beauty and it's white as well, even though I hate the color (because I owned one for 4 years) it looks like it was well kept all the years it was it was owned, almost reminded me of USCs old car.
damn thats really frustrating. i know how that goes though. my dad bought a 91 ford escort wagon brand new. i can't still can't believe how much work that thing needed before it rolled over 100,000kms.
i don't even want to think about paying that much in labour to change such an inexpensive part. good luck with selling it though.
I can't beleive its that difficult to remove the pan. I mean i've done a number of oil pan removals (thats my part of the turbo installs) and its so easy. Why couldn't Ford just make it as easy as Honda does.
If you really need to change the oil you could probably drain most of it from the oil filter. I know that would drain most of the fluid out of my engine but i'm not sure where the filter is on yours.
Good luck

Oh I can easily access the oil filter no problem, but Id have to take a picture of the frame itself so you know how hard this bastard is in the first place lol.
I mean they made everything else easy to fix on this truck.
Drum Brakes in the rear, Discs up front (I think its Rotor over hub) and a ton of others but like you Im like why would the make the oil pan such a pain in the ass to remove?
If the condo association would let me work on my truck in the driveway id be on this project myself..but they fine you 200 - 300 dollars if you do work on your vehicle (stupid I know but thats how strict they are) in your own driveway.
I'll take pictures tomorrow after work, Ive been home sick for the last two days..but im feeling a hell of alot better now. Chea!

I cant believe that its rusted so bad that the guy was afraid to take the plug out.
I would take the plug out of it and drain the oil good. I would then take a wire brush to it and clean it up some then I would cover that pan with JB Weld. I would let that set up for a day or so and then get a different oil plug. They make oil plugs that you dont have to unscrew the plug to change the oil, I would put one of those in it and be done with it.
Sell both cars get a race car from the factory and get ready for less reliability problems. Sometimes you just have to work on things and sometimes you just gotta let it go
That sucks man, I'm sorry to hear that, I've had to give that devastating news to a few customers at my work... Nothing we've gotten into but having to tell someone they need to get their motor pulled out to change their oil pan isn't the easiest thing to do... good luck with whatever you find!
