Alright, as some of you know, her car was wrecked last march, and she is finally looking for a new one. I found a MINT condition 1993 Accord LX, as in no rust, flawless interior, new timing belt, all new tires, new cv axle, perfect paint, 5 speed even. The guy wants $3200 (reasonable...it's in awesome shape). But nooooo, she want's to get a previously wrecked 1997 Buick LeSabre for $2900. Why? Because her dad thinks I know nothing about cars and thinks that I am in a competition with him to get her to buy the Accord. And of course, daddy's little girl does exactly what he wants, no matter what, because I apparently know nothing about cars... It's driving me nuts. Her dad already made a mistake with her last car ($5000 for a 1994 Ford Taurus...wtf?), and the transmission went out within 2 months, so that brings the bill to $7500. That she has to pay...for her dads choice. I just want her to get a reliable used car, and from my knowledge, GM 3.8L V6's aren't exactly the pinnacle of reliability. The F22 IS. I just don't want her to walk into a mistake again...but she won't listen. BLARGH!

ha- her dad sounds like a douche. i have a father-in-law that was the same way for years, he buys the worst POS's in the world and thinks im crazy for spending money on my 14yr old sedan. But so far it's outlived 3 of his choices (Suzuki Sidekick, Kia Sportage and PT Cruiser).
trust me, theres nothing you can do about it until she's out from under daddy's roof. until then save yourself the frustration and let it go. When you two are living together, married, whatever then you can call the shots and give her the keys to whatever you want her to drive.

I'll hand her the keys to my 1993 Accord LX (probably have 300k on it by then), that's still running just fine, while I go into the garage to put the finishing touches on my new, freshly turbocharged 2010 Accord Coupe.
Then laugh at the LeSabre carcass sitting in the junkyard.Originally posted by sweet91accordif aredy time i need to put something in cb7tuner. you guy need to me a smart ass about and bust on my spelling, gramar and shit like that in so sorry.

If I was you I'd let her get the car her dad wanted her to get.
Tell her that you believe the car you found would be a better choice, and that WHEN it(the one daddy wants her to get) breaks down, you won't say anything. But at the same time you buy the accord and ride it as a DD, when hers breaks down, throw her dad the keys to the cb7 and leave him.

buick lesabre? is your girlfriend 73?
something tells me a 2.2L honda with a standard will be *much* better on gas than some GM v6 with an automatic... and lets not even get into dependability. but perhaps after owning a buick she might learn a few things about what she really wants in a car.1991 JDM Galant VR-4
