I agree totally that you have to know who you're dealing with... If you don't, assume the worst and take the proper precautions.

Someone mentioned not wasting the time or money for a $20 deal... and that makes sense. However, for a small amount like $20, someone could possibly decide to accept the risk of dealing with an unknown seller... But that person should also accept the responsibility for that decision if they get scammed!

I'm sure half of the gripes I've heard about scammers have been for very small amounts. I can only think of 2 recent high-dollar transactions gone bad... that I know of, anyway.

I feel bad that this hurts the reliable, trustworthy people... like just about everyone that has replied to this thread (that I'm aware of). I've looked around on other websites, and I've read a number of "too many scammers on cb7tuner" comments. We're becoming known for it. I can't change that, other than by removing the Classifieds.

I've told people to protect themselves until I was blue in the face. Still, everybody wants a feedback system or something similar. People would rather trust people they don't know, based on the opinions and experiences (real or fictional) of MORE people they don't know. Doesn't make sense to me!

The problem can't be fixed, so the potential for the problem has been removed.
I MAY bring them back, but I need to get my head straight first. I have to either figure out some way to fix things, or just come to terms with the fact that people are going to be stupid, and they're going to come crying to me about it.

One thing WILL stand, however... if the forums return. No "scammer" threads or sigs. If you get scammed, I blame you, not the scammer. Don't be stupid. Also, vouch threads and sigs will also be prohibited. The last PM I recieved was in reference to a member with good marks in the "people to buy from" thread, and a number of vouches in his signature. I will not institute a feedback system, and I won't stand for a halfassed makeshift system like that either!

Dang....I always liked checking to see what was new and up for sale

Its unfortunate because there are alot of very good and trustworthy sellers on this site that have been helpful.....but when you get new people good things come to an end.

Too bad there wasn't a way to have sellers become verified members like paypal or ebay of sorts and those people with permission can buy/sell on a special section.

An ebay forum with a big step by step sticky would work beautifully.

That way they can set it up, and as long as they meet Ebay's seller requirements, they are good to go.

All we do is provide the place for them to provide a list and a link to the item, and they are off.

People will bitch and complain for awhile, because people don't like change, but they will adjust, and they will adapt, and they will succeed.

As far as the listing fees goes, you will just have to factor that into the cost of doing business. It isn't THAT expensive, and at least you still have an avenue to access the marketplace of CB7tuner, with less risk to you and your buyer/seller.

Dani: You aren't speaking for anybody but yourself. If you don't like the way it is run, you know where the door is. That isn't what we want, but with a different viewpoint, the site must do what is best for it, just as you must do what is best for you.

P.S. I am a contributing member, and most of the "contributing members" are NOT the ones bitching. You are. I don't need you to stand up for my rights. I am a grown boy and can stand up for my own.

It is OK to voice your opinion, but watch your tone. You are borderline right now, and I am not afraid to "abuse my powers."

Like I said, nobody wants that, but you need to be more respectful of other's positions.

i kept my mouth shut for a bit im calmer now. the ebay thing is a good idea but nobody will want to do it. you think there are comments now about scammers wait until the nazi comments start about the strict rules for selling. just accept it. people will scam. when they get scmmed on ebay theyll still complain. when they get scammed inthe regionals theyll still complain. what about what happpened with phempa and rayray they did their deal in person and we still had to read shit about it. it wont stop so stop punishing everone for it. 96 per cent of the people here are good its just the small group of idiots that scam and the small group of idiots that get scammed. people are goingto be jumping ship and going to that other site if htis crap keeps up. i still say its an abuse of power. you dont like it so you punish everyone for it. nice.

Yeah, keep it to PM and keep good on em, and it's cool. Same goes for everyone that has a pending sale. Just don't screw anything up! If you do, I don't want to hear whining about people being scammed!

It was cool to see what people had to sell on here, but honestly I have a hard time buying off Ebay now, little own here. I'm not saying that there aren't some great and honest sellers on here, but there is just too much chance of getting scammed and Deev is the one that usually takes the brunt of that. So Deev do whatever you have to and stick by it! There's scammers everywhere and it leads to more problems with the site. Without the Classifieds there will be a lot less problems and fighting.

my opinion, i have never bought anything on this forum, but deev's gotta do what's best. i would rather look for something close by, junk yard, craig's list, recycler ads, picked up locally. i understand that there may be things being sold and shipped across the states many times, but that is the risk that you are willing to take as a buyer. so all i gotta say is" let the owner of this site do what he has to do." there has been a lot of flaming lately though in my opinion. later dudes...............

Well, I kinda object to this closing of the classifieds section, but if it helps keep the scammers down I guess it is a good policy.

Aside from the ebay protection, there are still several advantages. Since it is an auction other people other than cb7 owners can buy the stuff as well. This usually leads to multiple bidders who will bid on a higher selling price than what you are willing to sell it for. This alone would be able to cover the fees of ebay and then some...There are other advantages as well, but I'm too tired to list them hehe...

Also, these problems would not have arose if the buyers had bought all my stuff hehe

                              kinda off topic..

classified forums are really tricky to operate.

i am a member of a BST forum for electronics like unlocked mobile phones, computer hardware, modded/flashed game consoles and backups (movies,tv shows, video games, etc).

it started out YEARS ago as an open forum. after X posts members were free to buy, sell & trade. that didn't work very well. people were getting scammed, infact I got scammed for a ps2 console.

it moved to a closed forum system. only those who were already members became part of the new system, new members had to jump through a few additional hoops to gain membership. this worked better, but there was still problems.

now move to the current system, which is www.bst-secure.com
new members can't do anything (go ahead and join if you dont believe me) - they can't see any forums besides the newbie forum, they can't PM members and they have to APPLY for membership. someone who is already a senior member must VERIFY this person's identity and take them under their wing so to speak, among other requirements. if this new member fucks up, the person who referred them also gets banned.

it is also important to note
                              - the dispute system is taken VERY SERIOUSLY. to post a dispute with another member is seen as a last resort and often reflects very badly upon that person. disputes are given a certain timeframe to be resolved, obviously personal issues are accounted for.
                              - most members have been members since 2003 or earlier. people are careful not to do anything that would jeprodize their membership.
                              - new members are on a very short leash. the older members are given more slack but they have still been banned if it is established that they do not remedy a dispute against them.

it is rediculous what must be done to curb scammers. all this i just mentioned just to make sure people follow through their transactions.

the open system simply didn't work well at all. it is just too easy for some retard to make an account, elevate their post count, "sell" their stuff and disappear, reappear and scam again. there is next to nothing to curb scammers that can be done in an open system like we have here at cb7tuner, or like the early version of my BST forum.

I wonder do they get a kick out of snatching other people and milking them for money . Or maybe because they are broke. I think simply locking them out from the classifieds section would be best. Or preventing them from pmming people or we can make a reputable sellers thread towards the classifieds section. Or disable from pmming anyone altogether once the word is given to deev. but seriously deev on the real you need to just unleash the mutherfucking moonwalk on these scammers and complainers of these scammers. Scammers never stop scamming especially on here and complainers never stop complaining and falling for the same shit.
