Damn, sucks to hear about the section getting shut down. But it is good to help protect people form their own stupidity. It is hard to tell who's going to scam you though. I'm happy all of my transactions went good (thanks to those who sold to me! )

I think ebay will be much safer, as least you can pursue legal action through them right?

yeh i got scammed on paypal twice..one was the stupid african scam..and another was a guy who sent methe wrong products but i disputed it and got my money back

its the internet..noting is safe your taking a risk wheter paypal or money order

I've spent a few hundred dollars on this site and a couple thousand on another and have had nothing but great transactions.

Hey at least I man up and admit i screwed up. But I've been scamed also and by paypal no less. guy filed a complaint that he didn't get his part i gave them the shipping info and the tracking number and they still took the money out of my account. so its a double edged sword. some people on here are fine to deal with. but most want something for nothing and wanna bitch about the price. hey i paid for it why should i sell it for less. if they don't like the price keep searching

HE KNEW what it was gona cost to run, He knew he was already in a financial situation. He could of turned it down, but he Didn't, so quit protecting him with that shit. I know I have always heard him say he was short on money or whatever, when he wanted to do MODS when steve owned the site.

If you notice, Juan, I'm not complaining about the cost. If I wanted to make up my losses, or make a profit, I'd just institute the monthly or yearly fees as Steve was going to do. This has nothing to do with the cost of running the site. Shutting down the classifieds was to just put an end, once and for all, to people getting scammed on here. Yeah, it sucks. Yeah, it's not the scammers, but the idiots that don't protect themselves that are to blame... but watever. It's done.
And honestly, cp[mike] runs this site about as much as I do. He's just less vocal about it, and he doesn't pay the bills. He puts just as much time and effort into making things run properly. Without him and Accord R33, I'd be in a real mess! If he was paying the bills, not much else would be different, I wouldn't think. The only thing I'd probably expect would be a new version of vBulletin, because he'd be more comfortable doing the upgrade. The overall structure and appearance of the site is still primarilly what Steve intended, and I have purposely tried to remain true to his vision there.




Paypal is not 100% safe. You only get your money back if the scammer keeps money in the account when the dispute is found in your favor. I have been scammed using Paypal.


People talk about seller ratings. People talk about post counts. The member that has recently scammed people has had many vouches. He has had a good reptuation as a seller for quite some time (though the people who have been around for a few years remember that wasn't always the case). He seemed like a FINE seller by the numbers... Those vouches, that high post count... false security. People ASSUMED that because he was a well known member on this site that he could be trusted with their money. None of the vouches were endorsed by cb7tuner.com, and the post count really shouldn't mean anything at all... but what do you know... I had a member (with 15 posts, no less... someone who shouldn't even be involved in transactions here!) complain to me about these things. He was under the impression that because he found information suggesting that this member was reliable on MY site that I should have something to do with it.

I'm sorry, if I don't have the power to fix it, I want no involvement in it. Is it so much to ask for people to take proper precautions? cb7tuner.com is TOTALLY removed from all transactions. Why? Because we can do NOTHING about it. Bans can be bypassed by creating more names. IP bans can be bypassed. We can't screen all 3000 active members to make sure they're trustworthy... what are we going to do? Check their credit rating? Call their mom? Get their address, fly across the country, and ensure that they send their stuff?
How about this... everyone can send their stuff to sell to me. Then the buyers can send their money to me. Then I can send the stuff and money to the proper recipients when I have both in my possession. Great idea, huh? Now, you guys will just have to pay me $80,000 a year to do that, because I won't be able to work.



The Classifieds are going back up today. Untouched from when they went away on Friday (as I said in the opening of this thread, they aren't gone, just locked and invisible). If I had intended on a permanent delete, I would've just deleted them for good!
I am adding an ebay-only forum. This forum will be the ONLY classifieds forum endorsed by this site. Everyone is free to sell the traditional way, but if you get burned, I don't want to hear about it.

The ebay forum will be for listing of items for sale on ebay, and for requesting of items to be listed on ebay. ebay DOES have the power to ensure a safe transaction, and a bad seller rating on ebay is a lot more damaging than a bad seller rating on cb7tuner.com. It may not be foolproof, but it's a hell of a lot better than what we have here.

There will be no bannings for scammers on here. When they scam, we know who they are. When we ban them, they can re-register, and we don't know who they are until they do it again. Simple as that.
Why don't we want to hear from the scammed people? Because they cry about it, and 100 people who have NO involvment in the transaction chime in. If I scam head4life out of $100, why the hell should I have d112crzy, thousands of miles away from either of us, flaming me for being a scammer? Even more importantly, why should the moderators, or even the rest of the visitors to this site have to put up with that? They shouldn't. It's a private transaction. Selling on cb7tuner.com is like selling on the streets of New York City. You can't hold the city accountable because some streetcorner merchant sold you a fake, broken Rolex! Hell, NYC has more power than we do in that respect, because they have REAL authority to prosecute, and the thieves face REAL penalties. I'm sorry, if you want to scam on this site, you don't care about it anyway. Getting banned from here isn't going to hurt very much.

Eric, that ebay search would be FANTASTIC. If you can make it happen, it'll make the ebay forum that much more valuable!

Normal classifeds still there... but with the addition of the ebay forum, there will be NO tolerance for stupidity. If you get scammed, that is TOTALLY on YOU. With the ebay forum, and he instructions provided within, there will be NO cause for you to not protect yourself. I do not support the scammers... I just have no power against them. Educating the buyers is the only thing I can do... and even spoon-feeding them a bit, which really does seem to be the way things work around here anyway.

what the fuck sorry for the attitude man, but so many people need these forums i meen deev i bought my car off the classified ya know, im tryin to sell stuff, and believe it or not, people get scammed less here than on honda tech or other such forums, my first buy on honda tech was a scam, i havent been scammed yet on cb7tuner for 3 years.

like you have been saying, you have to watch out for your ownself its not a democracy or whatever, and its the few people who scam people and the ones who dont pay attention to who they throw there money at before they search that are the cause of this.

im sorry but this really pisses me off. alot.

The Ebay forum is the ONLY forum that cb7tuner.com endorses the use of. You may use the "traditional" forums to buy and sell, but I don't want to hear about anyone getting scammed. If you chose to go with the non-recommended route, then you are fully accepting the responsibility of that decision.

Please read the sticky thread in the Traditional Classifieds forum. Any questions you have should be answered there. I expect to get a dozen PMs about the new setup anyway... and I won't reply to those that don't have legitimate questions (ie: "I didn't read the sticky")
