There's a lot of useful information on hondatech but its like finding a diamond in the ruff where the ruff is a bunch of bullshit posts.

this is what happens when u group a bunch of kid with the love a car and no knowledge from the belt that pulls the crankshaft to the tires that make the car go

i've been to the s2k.com forum, and its like cavier over there, i asked a question over there, backing it up w/info i've learn so far(from google and their site); and LITERALLY was attacked w/help

its the age medium, most hondas are owned by kids that got there license yesterday and raced mommies van coming home(with the exception of supra forums, where everyone who doesnt have 600hp or more cannot speak)

thats why i like it here, an answer to a question is based on your knowledge, setence structure, and "tone" of the post: if you ask: I GOT A VTEC AND A BIG TURBO AND I EATS PUSTANGS FOR BREAKFAST, HOW FAST CAN I GO, CAUSE I RACED FERRARI'S AND PORCHES AND.........................BLAH BLAH BLAH

where as if you ask like you got some sense in your head, you'll got a reply like you they got some sense

I am on supraforums also. The difference is really drastik compared to HT or any other forum. I guess you can say most of the people are more mature but they dont like if you dont search. But thats any other forum. I go there for some technical info (really good prelude sticky in that section) and some other appearance/marketplace deals. They have some good stuff sometimes. But some of the arguements they have are amusing I just go there for entertainment too.

Honda-Tech is one of the oldest, most respected Honda sites on the internet. Honda Day at Raceway Park (Englishtown) was sponsored by them.

Many of the most respected names in Honda performance are on there... including two of our members that I have great respect for, 2point6 and Bisimoto.

There is a wealth of information on that forum. Moreso than on here, though there is a LOT to go through, considering the age of the forum.

                      Those are the good things.

The bad things have little to do with the site itself... though perhaps a little to do with the way things are run.

As said already, any new member with a question is assumed to be an idiot, and treated as such. Any question that has been asked before (maybe not even answered... just asked) will recieve a number of rude replies. SOMEBODY may jump in to help... but I would bet that they wouldn't make it on the first page.
Very many members there don't know half as much as they think they do. I see more "I heard about this guy that did this once" posts on there than anywhere else.
Many of the flaws I see on that site are what keep my goals for THIS site in line. Flaming is worthless. Bench racing is worthless. Regurgitated fourth-hand information is worthless.
Answering a question for the 100th time is NOT worthless... at least when someone has the sense to search, they'll find 100 threads with an ANSWER... rather than 100 threads that say "search, noob!"

Try it. Search for "H22 swap" on Honda-Tech. How many threads have helpful answers? How many even have links to helpful answers? How many just say "search, noob"... or worse, have harmful information?

I must say, though... when my shop realized they didn't know what they were doing (H22 mounted, car in pieces... thumbs up asses) Willie from Twisted Imports saved my ass by writing out detailed directions for those dumbass mechanics to follow. He emailed me because of my pleading post on Honda-Tech.
They aren't all assholes... but the people that are worth anything seem to stick to their own circles, occasionally looking out to help someone. The assholes make it a frustrating place to visit. I still respect the hell out of the good members there.

Every forum has its pros and cons. Just some cons overshadows the pros in Honda Tech's situation. I joined a while ago and have yet to make a single post because all the information is already there. Useful information can be had if only people would just try a little harder by searching (I don't mean give up after 2 failed attempts I mean really try). Honda-tech is a large forum which covers all of Honda's vehicles (well almost) and its hard to overlook every single thread so there are many threads that gets through the cracks or are simply ignored by the mods because they feel like its a hassle to care. I don't blame them because its a large forum and it gets repetative over and over again if members keep asking about simple questions that can be answered quicker then making the post. Perhaps (hopefully not) CB7Tuner would end up that way (if it has the same amount of members). You won't get the luxury of having the answers given to you on Honda-tech as you would here, well maybe but with no flame.

Honda-tech are taken over by beginners asking their basic and simple question that just doesn't interest the long time members anymore. Most of the OG members on Honda-Tech are very very knowledgeable, but most of them don't own Hondas anymore.

I don't hate Honda-tech, its where I learned most of my information. That and to see progress threads of people's rides.

I like certain sections of that site. My favorite is the ITR section. It's always full of awesome pics and people seem to flame a lot less in that section.
The worst section for flamming is the "Kill Stories" section. If you don't write a masterpiece someone will flame you. And even if you do write a masterpeice someone won't believe you. lol I experimented with that, I wrote a kill story and I just wanted to see what the reactions were and the first person to reply said something along the lines of "that was the worst story ever. GO KILL YOURSELF!...it was funny. I challenge someone here to write a kill story over there and see what happens...Good luck

Honda Tech is ok. I always ask question with the correct information and people seem to reply fine. Its the newbies who ask for help, but post the wrong information. Giving people headaches when they try to help them with there problem and the newbies just makes it harder because they always seem to reply with the most no offense idiotic answers. Honda Tech is a great source for information if you really dig deep and search a lot. I found useful help for my EF civic especially the DPFI to MPFI DIY <3!

I'm re-registered over there....their OT forum "GDD" is pretty hilarious. Other than the Tech forums the rest is pretty useless.

Well, Imagine being on vacation and going to a store. You ask an employee where something is and they say to you "Go look for it." Would you stay? Would you come back?
