To me it looks kinda like a mixture of a Galant, an '04 mustang, ridgeline, etc... Unless it is packing some decent power, I don't think I would be liking it very much. Looking forward to seeing it on the road

reminds me of the Audi TT...looks cool...but the front and rear overhangs are a little too much...but I guess the shorter wheelbase would make it more nimbleDEVOTE

The overhangs aren't as big as they look there, it is an illusion because the bumpers curve out toward the center of the car, making them appear longer from the side.
Also, to all the comments on the proportions of the front end, unfortunately I agree.
You will see much much more of this across all brands and configurations (FF, FR, etc).
The reason is simple.
Pedestrian crash safety.
The hood and front end proportions do several things.
1) Puts more space between the hood and the engine up top. That way if someone gets hit, when they hit the hood, there is more room to absorb the impact. This prevents them from impacting the engine.
2) the blunt and squared off nose, maximizes force distribution on the legs and torso of the person being hit. That makes them less likely to have limbs severed or bones broken.
It is not quite as aesthetically pleasing, but I am sure this car will look quite sexy dropped down on 18's or 19's, and with a suspension that has a slight rake to it, it will appear just fine.
There is some Tiburon in the proportioning though.
If you look at the new Camry from the side, you can clearly see the pedestrian friendly design.

The only problem is that by doing this, to keep a pleasing "wedge" shape, you have to jack the back way up, and that's what's going to IMO bring a lot of hatch style cars back into the market. I personally don't like it much, but that's just what's up.
The new STI is going to be a 5-door hatch. The new Evo has a nearly square front end. The new GT-R isn't low and sleek like other sports cars (though the older Skylines weren't low either, arguably the only real sleek nose was the R32).
I don't know how I feel about it...I haven't seen too many new designs than have really inspired me lately.

Other than directly from the side, you don't really notice it as much in person, because the curves of the car are fluid in a way that you can't see in a photo. I didn't notice right away that the Camry was designed like this...
Overall, I think the Camry is just too busy, but not because of the proportions.
I think in a dark gray, or blue, with HID's. The car would actually look pretty interesting.
Yes, to some extent you are right about getting the wedge profile. They have to raise the back. They have also started resorting to visual tricks such as charachter lines down the side.
I am interested to see what the sedan looks like, because if it has a longer wheelbase and a longer overall length, then it will help mitigate the bulbous look somewhat.
I can honestly say that I like this car a lot, and if you go to Temple of VTEC where they have a few articles with many more pics, it only looks awkward from a very few angles, and like I said, that is partly and illusion caused by the curvature of the bumpers.
There actually isn't a straight line on the car, which helps with appearance from most angles.
I didn't light a redhot fire in my heart, but overall, I do like it. I think darker colors will really bring it out too.
We will see.

I LOVE the current gen Accord. It isn't much to look at, but it is a SUPERB car, in every other respect.
