    I despise printers... seriously.

Ok, a guy from my new job gave me a nice brand new Lexmark X4270 Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax machine. Kickass.

So, I installed it. I got the driver from the Lexmark site, everything went fine. Kickass.

I put the 30 reports I did today into it to scan them into a single PDF file. I hit scan. It started scanning. Kickass.

After 5 sheets, it started just feeding the rest of the sheets through... not scanning. Ass.

So I tried again. 3 sheets.

    Again. 4 sheets.

    Then it stopped.

I uninstalled it. Then I reinstalled it.

Now the computer doesn't recognize it. It seems to be reading it as an invalid USB device, or another USB hub.

    GAH!!!
    I HATE PRINTERS!!!

Now I have to drive 3 hours to deliver this stuff, because I'll never be able to mail it to them in time.

I hear ya.. Just last night I was printing off my english paper, and the computer says that it is low on ink, even though I just replaced the cartridge. This is like the 5th time it has done this. I was so frustrated that I beat the crap out of the printer. It felt like the scene from Office Space.

    Epson ftl.

I went for about 2 months with it saying "low on ink". And I print about 90 pages a week.

Yeah... I know that's flaw #1... but it was free! I only need the scanner part of it...

Try going into windows device manager and completely delete all traces of it.

Lexmark is the only printer company I haven't broken that I've owned. My old Cannon is a POS, and my Epson was taken apart, never to go back together correctly again.

I guess if I pay less than $30 for a printer, I really shouldn't expect much.

it probably has something to do with how Lexmark registers itself on the computer registry...

i had several Lexmark printers, all were free btw, and every single one of them messed with my computer registry...and caused silly problems like the one u have...

i just picked up a laser HP and its awesome!...prints really quickly...good quality and each toner cartirage ($80) will print around 2000 sheets!

                          HP > Lexmark

You try plugging it in another port Dunno if that works. I love my HP. It hasnt given me trouble yet.

I got it working! I did absolutely NOTHING different... I suppose it just wanted to see me break before it started working. Not only does the computer recognize it again, but it scanned all 31 sheets without an issue!

                              I still hate printers.
