Good for you man! If you're moving in with strange people, I would suggest that you don't bring anything that can be broken or stolen. Just about every friend I have that went away lost half their CD collection, computer parts, or musical instruments. Maybe invest in some kind of lockbox or something.
What college are you going to? (I'm curious what school starts so late! I'm looking at my first exam already!)
going to art instatute of pittsburgh. Going to a art school probably means i'll have a good chance of having a odd room mate...but oh well, nothing i can do lol

Just watch that contact high! If you only have 1 roommate, then you're lucky. My friend is going to art school in NYC, and he had 2 roommates last year... Those guys were slobs.
While you're in Pittsburgh, check out Punchline. They're from there, and one of my favorite bands of all time! They play all the time there, I hear... As do A Week In July and The Berlin Project, I think (also great bands).
i went to college with the same hopes of remaining a virgin... alas, 2 years later i was no longer. if you can wait, great. but if you meet the right chick at the wrong time, or is it the wrong chick at the right time lol, it may be out of your hands.
i agree, don't take too much stuff (i.e. video game system, big ol' tv, ALL of your cds) 'cause it may end up stolen. take just a few of the things you def. can't live w/o and see how it goes. your roommate(s) may be awesome, or they may slobs who have no respect for your personal things.
essentials:
1. shower shoes- community bathrooms are a breeding ground for athlete's foot
2. bathrobe- don't want them dude's checkin' ya out
3. mini fridge/micro fridge- gotta have a place to stash stuff when the food in the cafe sucks (which will be pretty frequently)
4. alarm clock
5. small tv
6. telephone
i was helpin my friend move in and he had some pretty basic shit...tv, mini fridge, laptop (not basic but pretty essential) and some other shit i cant remember. but he said most of all, DONT BE SHY. he would just leave his dorm room open all the time and people would walk in and just start chatting and thats how it went.
