    is it an integra type R or a GSR?

    i just wanted to know if the type R gauge goes to 10 or the gsr? my friend has a type r but his redlines at 8 and stops at 9?

    The Type R cluster has the number 10 on it, but that doesnt mean you can rev to 10k

    The GSR redlines at 8k, the type-R at 8400

        Yes...

        i cant think of any reason you would put a GSR cluster in a TypeR. are you sure he just doesnt have a GSR with a typeR motor?

        there is a lot more the the R than the motor.

          yea i think it might be a gsr with a type r then? looks just like a normal teg on the outside except for the wheels, they r five lug acura rims with a red emblem cap on them, when he bought it the guy shaves the emblem signs off the trunk nd hood

              well..only the R came with 5lug, but its a direct bolt on to a GSR. Are you telling me your friend bought this car, and doesnt know for sure if its a type R or not?

              things to check for:
              Big wing
              Silver, typeR badged strut bars
              no side moldings
              Cloth interior with red stitching
              Number plate on the center consol
              front lip

              There are more, but thats a start.

                They are both DC2, but i dont know about the rest of the numbers. a carfax would definitly say "Type R" though

                    Here's the different VIN codes:

                    Information taken from the 1994 and 1998 Integra Service Manual and various other sources. This includes US and CDN models.

                    Example VIN
                    JH4DC2381RS800001
                    Seperate the VIN like this
                    JH4 DC2 3 8 1 R S 800001

                    JH4 = Manufacturer, Make and Type of Vehicle
                    JH4: HONDA MOTOR CO. LTD. JAPAN. ACURA Passenger Car

                    DC2 = Line, Body and Engine Type
                    DB7: INTEGRA 4-door/B18B1
                    DB8: INTEGRA 4-door/B18C1
                    DC2: INTEGRA 3-door/B18C1, ITR/B18C5
                    DC4: INTEGRA 3-door/B18B1

                    3 = Body Type and Transmission Type
                    3: 2-door Hatchback 5-speed Manual
                    4: 2-door Hatchback 4-speed Automatic
                    5: 4-door Sedan 5-speed Manual
                    6: 4-door Sedan 4-speed Automatic

                    8 = Vehicle Grade
                    1: Type R
                    3: RS (without passenger SRS airbag)
                    4: RS (with passenger SRS airbag)
                    5: LS
                    6: GS
                    7: GS/SE
                    8: GS-R
                    8: GS-R with leather seats

                    1 = Check Digit, disregard
                    R = Model Year
                    R: 1994
                    S: 1995
                    T: 1996
                    V: 1997
                    W: 1998
                    X: 1999
                    Y: 2000
                    1: 2001

                    S = Factory Code
                    S: Suzuka Factory

                    Canada Model: Starting from 800001

                    So the Type R has different VIN code than a GSR

                        define "beat"

                        straight line? it would be close.
                        twisties? the R without a doubt.

                          1/4 mile Type R tuns mid to high 14's. H22 CB7's run high 14's to low 15's. So yeah it would be close, but I think the Type R would win more times than not.

                            yea straight line mostly, its only about 200lbs more than the teg, thats not bad i was expecting it to be allot heavier than the teg considering its a 4 door sedan vs a coupe teg, just gotta get rid of some seats, dash, a/c, blah blah and lose some weight lol and itl be all good

                              Even if you got rid of 200lbs I think the ITR would still have you beat. It rev's much higher and the lsd transmission helps a lot from a dig
